You can do it.

Soon you will look back to a 20-minute run and consider it short.

Do not fear.

Everyone is so freaked out by this run...I was so freaked out by the idea of it! Seems ridiculous right, we weren't moving off the sofa 6 weeks ago and now surely we can't run for twenty minutes?! Well boy are you in for a treat...stay hydrated, take it slow, then slow down a little more and you have totally got this 👍

And crazy as it sounds Elisabeth has it right...I'm only a couple of months further on than you so been doing 30mins or 5K's three times a week for a month or so, was shattered tonight so decided to give myself a break and just do 20/25 minutes...if you keep it up that'll be you sooner than you think. Good luck and well done so far 🏃‍♀️👍😊

Did the 8’s have a 5 minute brisk walk in between? That’s 21 minutes of cardio... 21 minutes of leg work... 21 minutes of workout.

I remember a comic strip with little people in control of parts of a person... I think it was called the numskulls... something like that. Anyways... the brain told the other bits what to do... and they did their job and fed back to the brain... it was pretty funny stuff. Despite the fact we don’t really work that way, we kinda do! The brain is seeing the next run as 20... and the last one as 8 rest and 8... the legs are seeing it as 21 minutes of hard work. The point is, the legs will see the next run as easier... only the brain sees it as harder.

W5R3 is daunting... but the body is ready... it’s a mental challenge. Slow and steady to start... get to that bell and you’re through the toughest bit. You can do it... trust the plan, believe in yourself, know that the legs can handle it and relax before you run. Amaze yourself and come back to tell us how great that run was.

I posted about this the other day and did my W5 R3 this morning. The hardest part was my mental resistance beforehand so after id given it too much head space I just pushed that aside and went for it. I reckon towards the end my speed walking would have been faster than my 'running' but what mattered was I held out to the end. I keep trying to remember that no matter how hard Ive struggled on various weeks, within ten minutes of finishing Im home and all is normal again (except Im beetroot red!). So when i was struggling on the final 5 minutes i just reminded myself that pretty soon id been home showering and feeling great and whats 5 minutes or 10 or 20 in the grand scheme of thing! Good luck but you'll be fine..just do it. 😉

Just another week..of different runs..and run 3 got has got an ill deserved reputation! It has become a dragon...!

Steady and slow...you are ready for it..

Relax..trust the plan...have confidence in yourself...

Remember...if you believe in dragons, you must also believe they can be defeated!

You're going to be fine!

HI, I was exactly the same as you and probably lost some sleep about it. Then read from others that actually you are running 16 minutes already, with a walk break, so it is really only 4 more! I found it easier to do the 20 minutes than I would have ever thought as it is a psychological barrier and when you have done it, you will realise that completing the programme is going to happen. Get some really good tunes on Spotify, hydrate, tell yourself you love running and you are gonna enjoy it and smash it!!! You will!!

It will be fine honestly - I remember dreading that one but felt so good when I nailed it. Don’t rush, remember to breath and you can do it 💪

I'm in total agreement with the lovely people above. You're definitely ready for this, it's just your brain doesn't think you are. Don't over think the run, just take it slowly and one step at a time. You'll finish it and be so amazed and proud!

It’s my next run too. I know it seems a lot to us, but I think we just need to trust the programme, slow and steady, and we’ll be fine. I don’t know about you, but I never thought I’d get this far! We’ve got this - we can do it 🙌🏻 Good luck 👏🏻

You can do it.....I felt exactly the same and set of with the slow and steady mentality. Didn’t put too much pressure on myself and felt if I needed to walk and do this run more than once so be it. It wasn’t easy but I did manage to keep going and was over the moon. Trust in yourself.....you’ll be great!!
