Starting over again!

I started C25k in New Year’s Day 2018. Graduated I think around April 2018 and ran 10k in June.

I stopped running 🙁 lots of reasons but going to get back to it! Did 1st run of week 1 yesterday and will keep at it.

The reason I want to do keep running is the after feeling I get. It’s a great way to keep fit and I felt so much better when I was running physically and mentally.

The reason I stopped was I was pushing myself to try and run further distances without having 1. Spare time to do runs (I am slow so 10k takes me over an hour with a full time job and 3 young kids doing 3 runs a week was difficult) and 2. Probably the ability I was trying to do too much too quickly failing or feeling exhausted. I also constantly compared my times to other’s and it started to get me down.

This time I’m going to enjoy running stick to what works for me and not push myself too hard. I know I can find time to do 3 x 30 min runs a week and I think that’s going to be a good aim.

I'm doing the same. I'm a slow runner too, it still counts ! Good luck and you may find it a bit easier this time around, I have.

Thanks. I wasn’t too bad with c25k it’s when I started building up 10k I struggled. This time I won’t bother with that unless I feel different. I would rather just run for myself rather than pushing myself to run fastest/longer. Glad you are finding it easier this time round hopefully I will do too!

Do exactly what you can fit in. Then you are more likely to keep going. Good luck and even better to have you back running 😊

Have you tried your local Parkrun? Free, every Saturday morning so you can do as many or as few as you want. Then if you get the chance of a run in the week they can be solo ones.

Hi I have done a couple of park runs about a year ago and also 10k race for life. I actually enjoyed the latter more surprisingly! The park run I did was full of lot of serious runners and I came away feeling a bit despondent feeling slow (my time was 39 mins) and I was one of last to finish. I may do another one but will make sure I am in a happier place with my running before I do I think. At the moment I am enjoying doing c25k runs again so all good!

I'm sure you will find a happy pace so you can get those feelings again, my advice to you is....finish a run on a high...dont think "right today I'm going to run 5k" but then when you dont quite manage 5k youre disappointed, just run...and finish when you still feel good...any run is better than no run at all. Have fun while you're out there and take in your surroundings and the fact that you're doing something that you love, because you can x
