Hello runners:)

Here we are again and August is nearly upon us! I cannot believe it.

So many of us running now and doing the most amazing things... This is a great pace to share your thoughts and your running plans with each other:)

I am running three times a week now and slowly getting back to..errr... speed ( ha ha )!

The number of folk on the forum is still increasing... we can hardly keep track! It s tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

I apologise if I miss posts or replies, as there really are a lot of us!

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just Graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and the new Quest on here too...please do take a look and join in!

One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can TALK to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.

So, please do come and join the fun...slip off your running shoes, and just let us know how it is going :)

Please do, also, take extra care when running in the heat...and maybe check out the post on hydration.

Hi, just getting back into some kind of running routine around new puppy so plans for August are to keep going with 3 x 30 ish mins a week and then find a new routine once work kicks back in come September as my usual 5:15 am run will now be a puppy walk. Maybe just maybe might try a Park run and maybe just maybe join the local running club for evening runs but we’ll see ... 🏃‍♀️

Morning to you... that is all sounding very positive! The puppy walk sounds like fun too! Well done you!

Have not run for 1-2 months.🤔

Daughter and children return to Dubai.

Going to get up at 0500,warm up very thoroughly and then run like a bat out of hell for 500m - 1000m.

Yes Floss, the once in a lifetime marathon is the plan, build up-to 7 hours of trotting.🙈🤣

Pleased for you Floss.❤️⭐️👏👏

Just starting week 7 so 25 mins of running (who knew it was possible!!) which is around 3k for me. Have just signed up for a jingle jog in December in aid of the hospital I work in so my goal is to reach the 5k distance before then

Great goals there and plenty of time:) Well done you!

Ay up Oldfloss. I’m still running 3x a week after graduating in May. I usually run between 4 and 5k in the week and then a longer run at the weekend (I don’t worry about times). I ran 8k on Saturday which was the toughest run I have ever done....but I did it and feel really proud. I thought 10k would be too far for me to run as I’m still a big lass (4st lighter than I was in Feb though) but now can see it is completely doable.

To all newbies that may read this...trust the plan and have faith in yourself. If I can do this, anyone can.

Super positive and so true... we can do anything we wish.. you are proving that! Terrific well done on that 8K and that 10K is doable.. totally.. steady and slow...it works:) x

I graduated on Friday and run yesterday my first 5k. It took me 50 min 🐢 but I did it nonstop! I am starting this week this 10K program: verywellfit.com/beginner-ru... ahead of a September and October 10K I have signed for! Very excited to keep sharing my progress and to be an example that the #C25K CAN be achieved and that it will change your life!

Very well done you!!! Do try to get some consolidation runs in before moving onto 10K plans.. you do need to build up gently after Graduation.. what about looking at Magic 10, here on Bridge... you have time before the next round of Magic 10...?

I have just graduated and for my first consolidation runs am going to try out the other trainers in the app. Took Sarah Millican out on Friday (having graduated with Jo Whiley)!

Running three times a week and appear to have cracked 5k a week after graduation so proper chuffed. Going to mix up some short runs and different routes and first ParkRun is week Saturday. Have entered Poppy 5k in October and the Milton Keynes Rocket 5k in May. Husband will be walking the March for Men 10k for prostate cancer in late June and I am hoping to run it.... 😳

Lots to work towards for me and Gary (Gary Garmin) but best of all is just the sheer enjoyment and freedom and sense of achievement. And of course all the support from the forum, you are all flippin amazing 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Morning 😊 I started this in April and am now only on week 6 run 3 which I’m struggling to complete! I don’t feel like I’m moving forward and getting through the 25 min run just wears me out and the enjoyment has gone 😢 I love running in the rain but I just can’t manage the 25 min run ... I have slowed down .. I’m not sure if it’s my breathing or if I’m not not getting physically fitter ... I am still running and I remember the first week was such an achievement, but how do I move on to longer distances? Any advice 😊😊 .. this is definitely a challenging week for me x

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Galladaydream

Just keep running... you are getting fitter and stronger... but you may be under the weather... ? Are you sleeping well, and eating healthily... ? Hydration too, as you know is key:) This weather we have had has sapped many folk...

As the runs get longer, try not to over think it... relax... start slow and stay slow... let the legs, the still very new, running legs begin to find their own happy pace.

Galladaydream profile image
Galladaydream in reply to Oldfloss

Thank you 😊 I eat healthy and hydrate myself, but I work long hours and don’t sleep very well, maybe that’s the problem running after work, Saturday morning I feel great, evenings knock me back ! I start work early so not possible to run before which I would prefer... I will try to relax for my next run tomorrow... and maybe I should try a different venue the same run over again is a struggle x 😮

OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to Galladaydream

Gosh... yes, it is tricky... and you are right.. a new route can be really helpful.. it shakes things up...I am not sure what time you start work... I was lucky when I taught. I had to leave at 8 .. and used to get up at 5.30 to do a run/walk ( I wasn't doing C25K , just on my own ). It meant organising everything well the night before a run..but was a great start to the day.

Oldfloss is wise: the weather, hydration, nutrition all play a part. But so does psychology. Research has demonstrated that in athletes, and us mere mortals, the mind gives in well before the body reaches capacity. I too got stuck at 25 minutes. Took me a few attempts more than the app offered. Good ole Sarah Millican in the app kept me going. And I chanted ‘I can, and I will’ and when I felt like I really couldn’t do it, I repeated the run after a rest day. Everyone has their own pace. I started in March. Only just graduated. Couch to 5K in 18 weeks. So take your time. Don’t look at where you’re not, look at how far you’ve come. And like Oldfloss says, every run is making your body stronger, but we have to work on our minds too. Things to try: I varied my route. I live by the sea, so I ran on the beach when the roads no longer appealed (on the hard sand - don’t even look at the soft sand!). Is there a running club near you or a running buddy that could entertain you with conversation as you run?

Best of luck and keep us posted.

Feeling 😔 and grumpy today. After graduating recently and running my first 5k only yesterday, I am today disabled by an acutely swollen and painful ankle after being bitten/stung by an insect over the weekend whilst out with my grandchildren! An increasingly annoying, annual problem for me but even more so this year as it’s going to interrupt my running! 😡

I saw your post..how is it now..? I do empathise..husband never bitten...me..anything that bites..will.

Take care..the runs do wait..x

I didn't want to know what this weeks run involve but found out what run 3 entails and am apprehensive but also know I'm definitely prepared for it and can probably do it, I'm putting all my faith in this programme as it's got me this far without stopping which is unbelievable!!
