Everything else can be bought cheaply, but if your going to take up running I would advise you invest in good running shoes. Go to an independent running shop and get a gait analysis done. They will advise you on the best fit and style running shoes for your feet.
After that everything else can be bought in Sports Direct from the sale rail.

Ignore brands. What fits one person may not fit you. Forget what you think your shoe size is. Follow damienair 's advice. Try on lots of pairs and take your time. Cut your toenails and wear your running socks.
