Hip problems

Help please. I completed the c25k app and now I'm out running with just music and Strava. I do my warm up and cool down stretches. I had a groin strain which has now resolved. Now I have really bad hip pain (hip flexor). It doesn't seem to be getting better so I am now just walking at a sprint pace. So dissappointed as I don't want to have to go back to the start of c25k. Any suggestions ??

Sorry about your injury Kingston2, I would advise you not to do any running at all, if the injury persists you should go and see your doctor.

Thank you for your reply. I will just walk and see if this improves.

Go and see a good sports physio if you can. And the other thing I’d suggest when it’s safe for you to run again is learn to run using this Japanese slow jogging technique - it’s low impact and designed to avoid injury.

There are a few specifics to this - not just running slowly so it’s worth watching a few times to get it all right - especially the landing and short stride parts. I love this style of running and run this way all the time. I can run for over an hour now but that’s only possible with this method. You get all the benefits of running without the pain! And even if you don’t want to run this way all the time it’s great to do post injury and it’s absolutely great for building strength and stamina - so a good tool to know for after injury or training for longer runs, and faster times (because you’re building the muscle strength for faster speeds). Hope it helps!
