A Dragon to be Fought...and Defeated !

[Oldfloss]

Last year in the Spring

That terrible thing

The Beast from the East, spread its jaws

With eyes dark as death

And ice on its breath

Spreading bone-numbing cold with its claws

*

Now summer is here

A new foe to fear

A Dragon with fire in its mouth

We droop as we run

And we wilt in the sun

As we bow to this fiend from the South

*

But will we fade away

In the heat of the day

Will we just melt away in defeat

No we'll plan how to run

In spite of the sun

We runners will never be beat

*

In the cool of the morn

In the first light of dawn

We leave the Monster asleep in its lair

We'll run in the dark

Or get up with the Lark

We'll show him we simply don't care

*

We'll wear the right gear

We have nothing to fear

Hydration must be our best friend

We'll run in the shade

Air con' gym,woody glade

If it's cool, then we simply don't care

*

We'll be safe on our run

Won't go out in full sun

The runs wait and will always remain

The Dragon will go

There'll be rain,wind,then snow

And a new Beast to battle again!

Run Cool...Run Safe...Run Happy!

Excellent poem Floss, the beast from the east, the dragon from the south, I enjoyed reading that, I think the really hot weather is over, not sure what August will bring, we had a short heatwave in June and recently in July as well, August is the third summer month so we can't rule out another short heatwave, as long as we runners hydrate well before running and run at the coolest time of day we should be OK.

We should... I am taking water with me even on my short jaunts.. t pour over my wrists or over my neck.... I can hardly believe my Beast from the East poem from last year at the moment!

Just fun and nothing compared with your temperatures Sask!!!! It is cooler here at the coast today but set to warm up before storms tomorrow! I obviously frightened the Dragon back into the Welsh mountains xxx
