Bling, but...

A couple of people have asked me to post a photo of my bling from Sunday, so here it is.

Sadly, the cost of this turned out to be quite high as the pain I felt during the race is now confirmed as a torn plantar fascia. Ouch! So no more running for me until late autumn it seems.

Not to worry - I won't be disappearing any time soon. I shall be watching from the IC and cheering you all on (and doing lots of parkrun volunteering). I'll also be concentrating on keeping my fitness levels up (and weight down) by doing some lower impact cardio.

Great medal but poor you, hope it's not too painful now. Great plan to volunteer at Parkrun and to keep fit while you rest and recover, hope you find some activities you can really enjoy without aggravating your injury.

Thank you - will do my best. :)

Oh no! So sorry to hear that but at least you have a plan for during your recovery time. Fab bling though! Sending healing thoughts your way. Who knows, I might actually have run 5k by the time you’re healed 😂😂

Thank you. You'll have smashed 5k by the time I get back! :)

I do hope you can recover before Christmas.

Keep your spirits up 👍🏻😉

Thank you. I'm optimistic that I'll get back to at least fast walking fairly soon. :)

Oh Pianism! For someone as keen as you!

I remember a piece of news from some years ago which claimed that scientists had found that just thinking about exercise helped people get fitter and lose weight. Perhaps psychobollox but worth a try.

Good luck!!

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to HeavyFoot

Haha. I don't imagine that'd work if I sat here eating chips and thinking of running. I've been doing a lot of running and thinking about chips though. :)

😖 That sounds awful! But a fantastic medal!

Ace medal to remind you to get back into it!

Fingers crossed for a speedy return from the IC 💪

Fingers crossed. I've only done this to avoid Lyme park! Will hopefully be fit to at least walk it though.

I've done a hobble! You just go slow.

So sorry about your injury Pianism, yes, do stick around and support everyone here on C25K and do a lot of parkrun volunteering, I think I was very close recently in getting that as well, I ran a 5K in 33 minutes, the last run in my old trainers, fortunately, the slight pain I had on my foot went quite quickly, I think if it had been a 10K I also would have been off for a while, now I have new proper running shoes so hopefully I won't get what you have now, keep on smiling.

PianismGraduate in reply to AlMorr

Thank you. Yes, being miserable won't solve it. The good news is, it's too painful to be bothered going to the fridge!

Oh no. Sorry to hear your on the IC, here’s to a fast recovery.

Fingers crossed. As the guy at A&E said... "I'd rather see you with a pain in your foot than a pain in your chest". :)

That is an awesome medal as well!

Sorry, that looks as though I didn't acknowledge your injury. That's because we have already discussed it on WhatsApp (in case anyone thinks I am heartless :) )

Bugger, that's a bummer

The medal IS great though

Can you swim?

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to backintime

Absolutely. I've been struggling to fit in time for a nice swim, but now I can use the Thursday morning slot that I usually do a long run in. :)

Glad to hear that you will be doing other cardio. I’m proud of you for staying so positive.

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to Connie1972

Thank you. I wasn't positive yesterday. Then I thought of the guys who were doing the 10k on trolleys or in chairs and gave myself a quiet (but firm) talking-to!

Oh no pianism, I’m so sorry to hear that. Good luck with the exercises etc and hope to see you back soon.

The bling is great.

Thank you. No, I didn't run Saturday - I marshalled at parkrun instead. Will be back sooner or later. :)

Yes sorry, I got you mixed up with Windoze at the VRB meet up. You saw my original msg before I changed it. I hope it’s not too long before you’re back but the runs will be there.

Damn. Sorry to read this mate. Sorry I didn’t get over to Alderley on Sunday, life meant I had to head the in the opposite direction. Hope you heal well... and enjoy keeping that fitness level up. No doubt I’ll be seeing you at parkrun soon.

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to UnfitNoMore

Thank you, and no worries. The atmosphere was great but, as I said to my friends, it's not really a spectator sport. You disappear into the distance and then (in my case) reappear over an hour later and then go home. :)

Oh bother Pianism. That's rough. Have you thought of buying a cello?

I've been trying out some healthy recipes recently. Got a great one for spicy prawns. Low carb, low calorie and yummy. Let me know if you want a copy.

Get well soon as you can.

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to BaddieThePirate

Yes, rough. I'm not intending to take enough time off to justify a 'cello! I could perhaps stretch to a nice book of Debussy....

I love prawns but tend to have them plain... I'm a simple country boy you know. :)

Had physio yesterday and found the benefits of proper advice... turns out my physio is a marathon runner. First thing she told me was to take the orthotics out of my shoes as they aren't designed for use with support shoes. Next she had a look at my foot and it turns out it isn't a torn plantar fascia at all - it's one of the other ligaments. So should be back up and running in 3 months. If you can afford it, get some physio from someone who knows runners and running! :)

Just read your post. What a great achievement and nice medal. So sorry that you are now injured , hope you get better soon 😊😊

Pianism profile image
PianismGraduate in reply to Buddy34

Thank you. I'm not worrying about the injury - it seems fairly inevitable (particularly if you're not young and haven't particularly looked after yourself). It's just another set of goals and another spreadsheet to get them licked! :)
