Getting back into running

Hello.

I started to try and run before using the couch to 5k a couple of times but ended up giving up due to feeling like I couldn’t do it. I’m looking to start running again and don’t want to give up this time. I know perseverance is probably key but does anyone have any tips to help?

Thanks

C25k is an amazing plan and really does work you'll get lots of encouragement and support on here. Just pick 3 days a week and stick to them and go slow . Don't worry if you can't complete a run you can repeat it. You don't have to do it in 9 weeks it will take as long as you need . Good luck 😊😊

Excellent advice. You sound just like me. I tried to do C25K 3 or 4 times before I finally completed the plan. It is truly amazing. Running has changed my life. I’m over 2 stone lighter than I was 6 months ago and have become a Parkrun addict. Stick with it, it is so worth it and a great achievement.

Wow that really good. I’m hoping I can complete some long distance runs at some point in the future. Will definitely give it another go. Thank you

Hi

Do you know what made you want to stop before ?

If it was the motivation then I can highly recommend sticking around this forum. Personally speaking, this is much easier when you can virtually surround yourself with like-minded people. It's as easy to pick up good habits as it is bad ones. People here understand the achievements, the struggles, the gremlins and the victories in a way that other people don't (and not because the others are mean but just because we are all doing the same thing).

The forum is a very inclusive place. I haven't seen one argument or discouraging post. Give and take from it and it will motivate you.

Hi. Yeah before I would struggle on the runs in the first few weeks and then say to myself that there was no point carrying on if I couldn’t do the beginning bit. Thank you. I will keep in mind to use this as some motivation and help this time

We repeated week 1 because we struggled with it then we were injured and took about a month to five week break. We were both surprised when we re started and have now got to week four.

slow and steady and post your runs then the encouraging comments make you go out again

Good luck
