Rambling about sore arms and running!!

So after graduating C25k at the end of April, I decided that I would be delighted if I could just keep running that distance 2 to 3 times a week. I had never run before starting the programme and to be honest didn't ever think I would do it, let alone stick to it. Well fast forward to June and the bug has definitely bitten and I am trying to increase distance a little, bit by bit. I went out this morning with the intention of running for 5k and then walking and running for 1k, to see if I could get to 6k, well imagine my shock and elation when I got back to the car and had actually run 6.1K in 43 mins. I am sharing because without this group I would never have got this far.

Ok now for my question, since running my right arm and shoulder seems to ache, has anyone else experienced this, am I perhaps swinging my arms too much, but then if I am why is it only my right arm, or am I running lopsided!!! lol. Any advice???

I have an issue sometimes but mine come from walking, I lock my arm out when I walk but it plays up when I run. Is it possible you are tensing up a bit when you run, try letting both arms drop down by your side while running and just let them relax. Feel your shoulders come down a bit then try again. Sometimes I have to do that a couple of times on a run as if I’m tired or doing a longer distance as I tire my shoulders creep to to my ears and I just feel Constricted so every now and then I just shake them out and it feels better. Happy running. Rfc x
