I nearly didn’t go this evening. I had my very poorly little granddaughter sleeping with me last night. She had a raging temperature, and awful headache. She kept moaning and grinding her teeth in her sleep. Then I had to get up about three a.m. to administer Calpol, which was a battle of wills. Then the dog wanted to go out for a wee. And so it went on.
Fast forward to 5:15, when my favourite running buddy showed up, and I was glad to see her, because, left to my own devices, I would have sneaked upstairs and gone to bed!
Today’s run was 2 x 8 minutes, and it was very difficult at first. Despite my inhaler, and being very well hydrated (my wee was almost colourless! 🤣), my lungs felt like they were on fire. I am so grateful for the chill, brisk wind, which woke me up and revived me somewhat.
The five minute walk in between runs was sheer bliss! I was so disappointed when I had to start running again, however... the second eight minutes seemed to pass a lot faster than the first one. I also managed to out-run my other running buddies for the last thirty seconds, when normally I trail behind them throughout the run. I shot ahead of my best buddy, who is normally quite fast! Mind you, I could hardly breathe afterwards! 😰
I will do run 3 on Friday. It is just the next run in the programme. (Apart from missing one week due to a stomach bug, I have done every run according to the schedule.) I will join hubby in the pub afterwards, as it is on the way home! I will celebrate with a pint of ice-cold Aspal’s cider and a bag of peanuts. I know how to live! 🤣

HUGE well done you... caring for our small ones... is so full one. I do hope small one is feeling better now?
You did brilliantly... keep it slow and steady and just enjoy...Enjoy your reward after your Friday run and take care of you.. We Grammys are awesome and amazing, but we need to look after ourselves too... we're worth it :)xxx
I am really glad she is better...my own daughters could not stomach Calpol and small granddaughter is the same...!! It make it so hard... But we handle it..because we are incredible! xxxx
Well done for getting out there this morning, despite not really feeling like it. Sounds like you pushed yourself pretty hard! Like the sound of your plan for Run 3, the thought of that ice cold cider will keep you going! Slow and steady though for this one, is my advice and leave a little extra in the tank for the last minute. Let us know how it goes.
Oh dear! Sounds like you must he shattered. I hope your little Granddaughter is feeling better today?
Wow, that is some commitment you and your running buddies have to go out at 5 15! Especially after your eventful night! I am in awe!
Well done on getting through it despite everything 😁 onwards to run 3 and that very well deserved cider afterwards. Perhaps start your run 20 minutes away from the pub then run towards it knowing that drink is awaiting.......that will keep you motivated all the way! 😉
Well done in spite of all the obstacles. Oh the joy of running buddies, either real or virtual. In this case I bet real was essential. 🤪
And well done on that second 8 minute section! Some of us do better after the first 10 minutes are over, so maybe you are one of us. Anyway, all the best for the run to the pub! 👏🏼
The lure of the pump and a pint glass with condensation on it will bring you through, bag of crisps is my cure all. Hope he has it waiting on the bar for you 🍺
