65 Degrees - Run in the Sun !

Well who would have thought it...certainly not me. Before I started C25K even walking for long periods in the heat made me sweat, hands swelled up and generally disliked it and found it quite hard work.

I forced myself out this evening to get some miles in for MIles for Mind and still amazed I ran in 65 degrees heat for 30 mins (4km) off my total.

8 miles to go !

I still look like “Larry” but worth it as it’s all for charity 🏃‍♀️

Good luck to my VRB’s on your running this week too.

I’ve noticed I’m coping better in the heat too, an unexpected positive effect of running I guess! 😁

Great job on the 4K! You’ll easily reach your target with a few more of those! 🏃‍♀️

Yes I’m stretching, stretching, stretching too so I keep that pesky painful foot at bay.

Took me an hour for the redness in my face to go 😂

I’m just the same lol, glad it’s not just me 😂😂 Glad the foot’s doing well n you’re keeping up with the stretches. I always know when I forget mine for a few days 😩

Well done you!!! I find I’m running later and later in the day to avoid the heat (park near us stays open until 8pm - phew!!)... but am thinking of investing in towelling head and wrist bands for a natty, but much needed, look!! X x (haven’t converted my kms into miles yet, so no idea how far I am from MfM target... I just keep plodding and spreading the word!)

Ps, roped three friends in to do it too... that’s all down to you sharing the event in this forum!!

A big well done to you too ! It’s great that you roped three friends to join in aswell....none of mine wanted the challenge 😂

I’m still not a lover of the heat and my top lip likes to store water like a trough 💦 which is great and very attractive !!!!

Have you any idea how many miles you have to go ?

Good luck with that plodding (I will be with you all the way) and think we all need a celebratory dance/drink/chocolate/fanfare on the 31st May 🏃‍♀️🥇 🏆

Just added it up... have done about 30 miles (of 25 target...!!!) 😳. Think this is a case when over-anxiety about ‘not achieving’ might’ve paid off!! I still plan to write on social media though, outlining personal reasons about why I signed up for this. And yes!! Deffo celebrations on the 31st... is my bd on 1st... so will be primed to celebrate!! Well done to all of us!! X x

That’s amazing ! Good on you and such a great idea to write about the journey and what you have achieved for MFM and also for others to read it and take inspiration.

Ooooh that means I must eat cake on the 1st to celebrate your birthday ! 🎂

Yes please!! (To eating birthday cake)... and yes, if I can be brave enough ( and it’s a bit like running for 30 mins without a break - I just need to make myself!!) then I’ll get personal about the importance of MfM x x

Good work! Even with the weather. Yeah just make sure you stretch well. My knee goes to pot if I don’t stretch my calf and glutes.

So stretching question for you as I’m not sure if I’m doing it correctly....I do dynamic and static stretches before a run, then static stretches afterwards.

Do you think I should just be doing dynamic only before a run ?

in reply to RunRunRun13

My physio said in an ideal world we would do a warm up walk then some of our run then some stretches. But he said we don’t live in an ideal world. How are you finding it? Are your muscles getting too tight?

Yes I had few niggles on the arch of my left foot (plantar facilitis) think it’s called...but my legs feel quite tight/heavy although I stretch a lot before and straight afterwards.

Maybe I need to do more on my rest days.

in reply to RunRunRun13

Maybe. I never knew my knee pain could in turn be caused by tight glutes. I sometimes get that pain on my foot. Are you still giving yoga a go? Has that helped?
