W9R2 - i know an old lady that swallowed a fly

Ok so I'm not THAT old and i didn't actually swallow a fly but there were a few close ones! The heat seems to have brought out the bugs.

Talking of heat. That was a horrible run. I didn't get any rhythm going, I couldn't catch my breath, I was too hot, I hated every minute of it. And my fingers swelled up like sausages :( Then I meet my best friends husband running towards me aka Mr competing for team GB triathlon team.... I was at 28 mins so not looking my best! πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ Though I have to say he has been one of the most supportive people and always asks how it's going πŸ™‚πŸ‘

So positive bit, I ran it all (just) even the hump back bridge at 26mins. I just kept saying you did this on Saturday you can damn well do it today. And i got to try out my new running visor and water bottle :)

Fingers crossed this is my crappy run and graduation will be a breeze πŸ™πŸ˜Š

Happy running folks xxx

you will sail through the last one on a high as in your mind it is the end of the journey started nine weeks ago. I felt really excited about R3 it was like sitting an exam at the end of a lot of revision. I knew I could do it but still felt would it be an anti climax when I finished...NO NOT ONE BIT loved it. Get Rag n Bone man Giant on your music list best record to end on....we are giants all of us...good luck will be looking for the I don't it postxx

You just reminded me of something. I listen to Sara Cox on radio 2 when I run and the gods were looking down on me today when I needed it most. Just before i got to the hump back bridge they started playing Barry Manalows Copacabana. You can't help but smile and sing along. πŸŽΆπŸŽ€πŸ’ƒ

It was a little hot for me this evening too on my run, I completed my run but I was glad it was over. The way I see it, every run teaches us something about our relationship with running, we pick up likes and dislikes along the way and even in the later weeks the challenge continues to surprise us. Everyone talks about that one bad run, everyone gets it, maybe this is yours, but you know what, you completed it, so it can't be that bad hey! All the best for W9R3, superstar!

I had to spit a couple out today... I’m vegetarian... but they are a good protein source apparently 🀣

Love that next run... celebrate that journey... make the walkers wonder if you’ve escaped a mental institution as you smile that last bit.

Haha! I spend most of my run wafting them away, spitting them out or picking them out of my eyes! πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚ Earlier in the day seems to be less fly-ridden i’ve noticed, I think they wait till it’s warmer to come out

Best of luck for the graduation run!!

We all have runs like this so don’t despair, it’s being positive about future runs that’s the key. Loved the phrase about sausage fingers πŸ‘πŸ‘

You will enjoy your next one, well, just because its graduation run and you deserve it.

Your just a pup yet!( seem to remember we are similar age)

A beautiful butterfly nearly landed in my mouth on Mondays run...they are everywhere

Hate flies, as you know what they were sat on the last time you saw them

Enjoy that victory run in...consolidation runs then 10k???

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to Franglaise

Haha i think 10k is a step too far, I don't like running THAT much πŸ˜‚

Well done. Jo Whiley's podcast kept on reminding me to think more positive. Instead of it hate this, I love this also, to look at my surroundings and take in the beauty.

First time I tried I thought it was a pile of poop but I kept on and there is definitely something in it. Really did help.

Good luck

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to DAMAL

Thanks, normally I'm happy taking in my surroundings but it was just bad. I really really hate being too hot. May have to consider running before work 😱😱😱

Yeah running in the sun sounds like fun until you actually do it πŸ˜₯

It happens. I had a brilliant run on Saturday with PB and yesterday, same route, my legs were like lead. Still did it and that’s all that matters x

I’m loving the new kit!! And know what you mean about the heat... my main form of hydration on run seems to be swallowing my own sweat (nice image!!) Am seriously contemplating buying towelling head/wrist bands Γ  la 1980s... πŸ˜‚

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to Kertesz

🀣🀣 maybe a 118 running vest to go with the headband?

Aww well done Jogunlikely , it wasn’t your best run by the sounds of it but the main thing is you finished itπŸ‘ The graduation run is just in sight, have a nice rest day and go for it, you have done amazing to get this far, enjoy the finale 😊⭐️🍾

OMG - you are SOOOO close.... my advice for W9 R3 - do it nice and slow... really slow.... it does help and it's a great feeling if you get an enjoyable Graduation Run.

I still have 'bad runs' (not too often) and I'm a month on. I'm planning my longer routes so that one day I can actually do 5k (I can only do about 3 km) and I'm picking out (with mapmyrun) some lovely downhill (gradual) runs and asking my Hubby to meet me at the end in the car (bless him).

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to primaballerina

Oh I love a down hill finish πŸ™‚πŸ‘ still not decided where I will run tomorrow, I'm trying to think of somewhere flatish and cool x

Franglaise profile image
FranglaiseGraduate in reply to primaballerina

My hubby does it the other way round and kicks me out of the.car to run home....me thinks he enjoys the driving away a little too much!!!!

primaballerina profile image
primaballerina

So on Graduation day do we get to see you dressed in your kit with waterbottle in hand?

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to primaballerina

Ah well Ninja runners πŸ‘€ should never reveal themselves 🀣 i always seem to be wearing black!

Simple answer is probably not, sorry x I hate having my picture taken at the best of times let alone when all hot and sweaty 😱 but never say never xx

Franglaise profile image
FranglaiseGraduate in reply to Jogunlikely

Black is a mistake in heat....my black running top is redundant now until winter as it is getting scorchio now

Jogunlikely profile image
JogunlikelyGraduate in reply to Franglaise

Mmm i may need to go shopping for diff vest top

Franglaise profile image
FranglaiseGraduate in reply to Jogunlikely

Ooh love a bit of shopping...my run tonight was in 28 degree heat...felt like wearing nothing at all.

I have just seen your post...cracking job, well done you...feel proud, it is quite an achievement.

Nice read up. Looks like you’ve also bought some snazzy gear. I prefer shorts when it’s hot and a breathable T-shirt. I do usually go for a run at 5 am so miss the super hot weather. I always find it awkward when I’m having a run which I’m struggling and pass another runner or a walker. Not sure why πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ I probably shouldn’t care.
