Running for Real with Tina Muir - Ep 116 with physio Brad Beer.

The most positive, sane thing I have listened to regarding injury and running. ๐Ÿ˜ Highly recommended. Both uplifting and sensible.

Oh I love sharing things I have enjoyed, MC! I am doing well thanks my lovely. I have had a slight issue with my lower back/hip, but it's on the mend now. I saw a physio โ€“ diagnosis: tight mid-back from sitting at a bloody desk all day long, resulting in tight lower back, resulting in hip pain when I ran! It's all interconnected! But! I have some exercises from the physio (involving foam rolling mid-back โ€“ ouchie!) and have been doing lots of lovely yoga stretching of a morning, and it is almost cleared up. Hasn't stopped me running, so must not grumble! How are you doing, lovely Bev? xx

oh and the penny has finally dropped (thanks to a very no-nonsense physiotherapist who gave it to me straight!) โ€“ if I want to run injury free, I have to up my strength training game. Which I have now. :-) My glute medius does not know what have hit them! LOL! And this podcast has taught me to not freak out at the slightest niggle. Which I really do!

Sounds like you've got it all sussed out Sadie...getting proper treatment and advice can only benefit your running.....

I'm doing ok, I'm desperate to do 10k again so hopefully, now my daughters prom is out of the way, i will manage it this week...I'm waiting for the rain to go away, i dont mind running in the rain at all but 10k is a long way when youre soaked!!! My friend asked me to do the Manchester 10k next weekend with him but I'm not that confident so have turned him down. I'm still getting my legs back into running mode after my holiday!! Maybe next time...

I love that your running has gone from strength to strength and that it brings you so much pleasure xx

Lovely to hear from you, Bev and thanks for your kind words. Now I am a more experienced runner I think I find it a bit easier to listen to my body and react sensibly! It can still be a bit frustrating when things niggle, but I no longer see it as the end of my running career! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

It is supposed to be dry and warmer next week, so perfect timing for a long run! Just remember to hydrate well the day before and take it nice and slow! You know the drill. ๐Ÿ˜ You are a fantastic runner, just need to have faith in yourself my darlinโ€™. Once you get a few 10ks done, you will have that faith. Slow and steady my lovely!

Thank you Sadie, i think you have more faith in me than i have!!! I ran on Thursday but struggled, some runs i just cant get into & the gremlins get to work in my head which I'm starting to think is easy work for them when they start on a lone runner...theres no one to keep you going is there? My garmin battery died and then my phone rang so i gave up after about 2k...sometimes i can run and run then sometimes i cant run for more than 5 mins without stopping...its a funny carry on..im cross with myself that ive only managed 10k once..nevermind, i can get back on it now that things have gone back to normal...ive also gone through a stage of not wanting to be seen running in public!! Silly i know but those gremlins like playing their games!! X

Gah! We all have runs like that though, love, we just donโ€™t all admit it! You need some inspirational running podcasts to listen to, I reckon (and get yerself organised and charge your Garmin the night before!) I recommend Run Pod with Jenny Falconer and the Runners World podcast for long runs. Really hold my interest. I think I am pig headed about my runs - when I want to stop I just give myself a good telling off and slow down a bit until the gremlins have effed off. I hate the bad runs, but they are worth it for when you get one of those lovely ones. Stick with it kiddo. xxx

I'll give them a try this week...i dont know if ive got the 'after programme' blues, like when i finished c25k & my running just bumbled along for a bit & i had nothing to aim for...i need a kick up the rear i think to get me motivated!!! X

I do know how you feel as I fight running demons too! Maybe you could enter a 10k for later in the year for some focus? I cannot quite believe this, but I am soon to start training for a HM in September ๐Ÿ˜ฑ Thatโ€™s certainly given me something to focus on / aim for! Not entirely convinced Iโ€™ll make it...but will never know unless I try, right? Same for you...xxx
