What happens after 5k? Any recommendations for apps?

Really surprising myself by reaching week 7 and can’t believe I’m actually running. So, I have two stone to lose and want to keep going at the end of the programme. Michael Johnson has been a hugely motivating coach and I wonder if anyone knows of a similar app after this to keep me on track? The ones linked on NHS website are out of date and don’t look as helpful.

Suggestions gratefully received.

Well done for reaching Week 7 and such a great feeling to be running (well most days) 😂

I use Nike Run Club app as there are guided runs or personalised coach runs which you can use. I recommend Coach Bennett and lots of varied runs so loads to choose from.

Good luck with the next two weeks 🥇🏆

Thanks for this advice and for your really kind support. I’m going to look up Nike Run Club. Really helpful.

I still run using Week 9 Run 3 and listen to Laura as at present just consolidating the 30 mins running used it about 10-12 times now I think.

Consolidation sounds a good plan as I’m still very tentative about my running and also very slow. Good advice thanks.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

When you announce your graduation there are many routes you can take and I will send you a link to a guide to post C25K running which gives pointers.

Enjoy your journey.

Well done so far... enjoy closing this out and then do some consolidation work. Run 30 until it’s very comfortable. There are couch to 10k apps out there, most allow you to drop in at the 5k stage, but I haven’t seen a really good one yet.

Firstly there’s a choice to be made... do you want to use your new ability to keep fit and healthy? Do you want to run faster? Do you want to run further/longer?

The reason that I haven’t seen a 10k app that I like is that most progress in the same way as C25K and you end up running 3x60 or 3x10k a week, which is hard for most of us to fit in... and it’s not the most efficiently way to get there either. ju-ju-‘s plan on the bridge to 10k forum on here is great... and it also covers cross training and interval runs that many miss. For 10k that plan would be my choice, 100%.

To go faster then follow a 5k race plan... there’s many online, and in apps... most charge for this feature.

Personally, I run with the above mentioned Nike+ Run Club, which is free. It has free plans, but the real value add for me is the guided runs... it would be easy to follow any plan using these. Coach Bennett is very chatty, but he takes a lot of time to remind you how hard you should be running... most of the time it should be 4/5 out of 10 effort. There’s legends and other coaches to run with too. And for a focus on running to fitness there’s a set of guided runs with Andy from headspace on there too.

Anyway, you have some time to think... a lot depends on your running ambitions.

GO YOU....well done. Snap me the same lost weight. Now set free from C25K. Just me my music and a watch perfect way to go for a few weeks until I decide what is next.

went out early today 730am to beat the heat.. just took in the scenery forgot looking at the watch and ran as I felt today...did 44mins without realising so much nicer than having "you have done 10mins" etc in your ear. Mind you without C25K I would not be doing this today so it is an amazing intro to running..

I'm using the 10k runner app by Fitness 22. It has less vocal support than the C25k app, so isn't as good in that respect. However it does have a program that furthers your distance gradually using interval runs like C25k. The app is actually meant to go from 0 to 10k but you can easily start half way through at the 30min run and continue up. Not free however.
