If you are going to join us on this running programme that is fantastic
Check out the post for Newbies... and make a start..This is not a weight loss programme , but we do have a lot of forum friends here who have Diabetes.
If you follow your dietitian's plan and have a healthy eating regime, then this could be a winning plan!
Welcome to the forum and well done on your decision.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5... and includes a link to a post about mental approach.
To make any of this a success you need to adopt a positive "can do" attitude. We have seen remarkable success on this forum of people who have turned their lives around, moved out of the need for diabetes medication and discovered the joy of being physically active. It might not be easy, but you can change your life and health prospects with this simple little training plan and a sensible eating regime.
You can do this.
Enjoy your journey.
Oh I don't know that you have to start with a positive can do attitude... in fact I'd say the default attitude of those starting the programme is incredulity at the notion of ever running for 30 minutes continuously. The positivity catches you up. You just have to do the thing.
Anyone like WendyKathleen (and there are plenty of them) who is full of "don't want" to do X and Y that the evidence base suggests (but they don't believe) will help with things they say they need to achieve is unlikely to be able to and doesn't need to do more than to focus on the words in the (one!) earphone and doing that first 60 seconds of a running motion... and the next... and the next.
I don’t know about you but I got to the point of “well, what I’ve been doing all this time hasn’t worked for me, so I can choose to carry on just the same and increase my size (& with that comes low self-esteem and/or depression/anxiety) or I can try something new and do it properly. It’s my choice. I’ve chosen the latter. I’m 54 and and fed up with feeling physically and emotionally rubbish. No more. Good luck. 👍🏼
