Hello week 9 on C25K! I’m just so amazed by the fact that I now run. Excited about my last week, just run the w8r3 today and at the end I thought “yes sure I can do this next time, it’s just another 2 minutes !” So here I come w9r1 hopefully I’ll be in the Lake District running in a beautiful place with amazing landscape ahead of me.
1 week to go! : Hello week 9 on C25K! I’m just... - Couch to 5K
1 week to go!
What a lovely way to head towards graduation - the lake district! FAB. Hope you find a flat route (if you use mapmyrun, you can check elevation before hand).
... I found a slighly downhill route for my W8R1, and may be tempted to do that again for R2... I've done lots of there and backs on my ususal route with with upward incline returns... not much fun for those last few mins!
I will have to find another route yet for my W9 as my new route had a upward bit facing me just at minute 28!
PB
Thank you PB. I hadn’t really thought about incline really, so that’s a good point. One of my local routes does have an upward incline that I’ve been doing, it does feel great when I get to the top, it takes me 5 minutes to do it and the first was tough but the following times were fine, just took it at my own pace. Downward inclines scare me a bit, my anxiety tells me I’m going to fall 🤷♀️ But I still manage to do them without falls.
You can do inclines, keep your feet going at the same pace but take much, much, much smaller steps. Lean forwards slightly and keep going. People can walk past me when I’m ‘running’ steep bits, but I keep going! Apparently it is different muscles you’re developing so it is good to do some hills and mix it up a bit to get used to them. I started in the canal towpath so hills were a shock. I’m still not used to them, but am getting better. Good luck!
