Week 8 - Run 3. longest run yet

As my previous post suggests, It seems like it's no more 5k already...

So. schedule totally messed up over the week end and I ended up squeezing a run before heading out to a wild life park. I spoke with my wife who suggested a route she sometimes takes with her friends when they go out for a brisk walk, as she mentioned the time and the word brisk I was kinda under the impression the walk would be loop would be about 6k. I though why not considering the length of the exercise for week 8 (5 walk, 28 run, 5 walk). I was visualising the road being also mainly flat...

Wrong!

I check the map and set off. having never walked this route I didnt know what to expect aside from single track road. I was somehow under the impression that the loop would be fairly flat and nope, it wasnt! not too sure who to believe for teh elevation bu Strava suggests 102m, Garmin suggests 82m. in any case, not flat. the run is fairly uneventfull but as it wasnt track/trail with rocks I was expecting the run to go faster.

I start at totally the wrong pace and took me a while to slow down, I went so "fast" in fact that I cleared the first kilometer in 6:30 minutes including the 5 minutes walk! Not too sure how I manage that but I did walk rather fast. I really wanted to see if I could achieve the 6K as I mentioned in the previous posts. well... I did! in fact the gong for mid time was well after I reached the 3K mark. I ended up covering 6.2K in this outing. very pleased!

10K in June within reach!!

Congratulations Bobbypizza, good run for you today, 6.2K is excellent and a good forerunner for your forthcoming 10K in June, plenty of time to train for that. 😊 🏃

Thank you. This is actually my first run where I cleared the 5k in under 30 minutes. 28minutes and a bit if I m not mistaken. The program really works as intended for me it seems. Went from nothing to 5k in under half an hour of moving. 30 minutes uninterrupted tonight... Considering I m still tired of the change of hours and still sore from my bike outing I LL take this one slow!

Many of the graduates that have hung around on this forum spend a lot of time reassuring the members that they are not running too slow, telling folks to slow down, and reminding everyone that C25K is about completing the runs (and not to worry about pace, speed or distance).

Your posts always seem to be about how far or how fast you've run. I just want anyone reading your post (and more importantly, this reply) to know that C25K is all about personal achievements, and not to compare yourself with other runners. All that matters during C25K is to complete the timed runs. Doesn't matter if you run 2km or 6.2km, it's the time that is the achievement.

In March 2019, StormyMonday said on this forum Comparison is the thief of joy. So true.

To me it s about my personal achievement. i set myself wee milestones and see if I can do it.
