Getting back post food poisoning?

I graduated last week, still running very slowly and often finding it hard but so pleased with myself to have stuck with it. Repeated week 9 and the last run was the first that actually felt easier while as was doing it as opposed to giving me a great feeling after! On Wednesday night I came down with the worst food poisoning bout I can remember. Still in dressing gown and feeling weak but just starting eating again. I know there is no point in thinking about running for a bit (in fact right at this point I feel I might never walk again, never mind run!) but has anyone experienced anything similar? Any idea as to how long I might need to recover? I suppose I have worked so hard to get here I am frightened of going backwards!

I’ve had that vomiting thing. My husband brought it back from work but he was fine

Two days in bed without wanting to eat. It didn’t take me long to recover though

If your food poisoning is due to something more serious it can take much longer

Thanks for replying! I will just have to take it slowly I suppose. Might just accept that I won't even think about getting back to running until next week sometime. I suppose it's what happens over the next month that matters, not the next few days!

Thanks buddy! It's the thought of finding that I am back to square one that bothers me but I don't suppose it will be that bad! Fingers crossed!

On here they say you won't lose any fitness in 2 weeks so hopefully you'll be better by then

Not exactly this bug but I went down with sore throat and a chest cold a day after graduating. Dared to run the first time today. You are not alone!

I have pretty much decided to wait a week or so before I try to get back to running, depending on how I feel. Still feeling rubbish so it's hard to imagine feeling OK again if you know what I mean! Thanks for replying. It's good to know that I'm not alone in getting a bit of a setback, and in getting back to it!!

You have to build your reserves back up but you can’t get cracking with that til you feel like eating Bovril drinks are restorative, with dry toast maybe 🙂

Just managed the first food since Wednesday so I'm on the mend! Getting bored with feeling ill which is always a step on the way to feeling better!
