Wondering about my poor toes (prone to chilblains) getting cold if I run in the rain 😂

Do runners just have to accept wet feet in this weather?

Soggy feet are not mandatory :)

I bought Dexshell Ultra Flex socks for a 100km walk i did. I was skeptical but they really worked and no blisters. Admittedly i've not run in them but i know others on the forum have. They will also be able to recommend other good brands. They are not cheap compared to normal running socks but were worth every penny to me to have dry tootsies.

Just a word of warning - do not dry them using direct heat or tumble dry as this ruins the waterproofness - i learnt the hard way!

Happy running x

As a trail runner, I’d rather use Vaseline (other petroleum jellies are available) on my skin and add a pair of merino socks, then even if my feet are wet? They’re warm and wet.

I find waterproof socks make my feet feel ‘clammy’ and they still feel cold.

My merino socks are quite thick prob good excuse to get another pair! Vaseline rounds a bit slimey 😂 🐌

You can get waterproof shoes, i think they are mainly Trail shoes though.

I have been known to get chilblains (☹️) and I think the key is warmth, not necessarily dryness. Amazingly, my feet seem to keep warm while running no matter if they get wet, so I just always change socks & shoes when I get home if wet.
