Today was a paced event at our local Parkrun in Navan. My 9 year old Son Oisin and I were up early and looking forward to running on a gorgeous gin clear frosty morning. We were on a mission for a PB. Oisin got a sub 30 min time last weekend and I wanted to join him. We were going to follow Derek whom was the 30 minute pacer.
All was going well, until at the 1 km mark Oisin tripped and landed on his hands and knees. He cried a little but dusted himself off after a little break. We carried on and finished in 31:30. No PB but I’m proud that he had the courage to get up again and go, and finish. He got loads of encouragement at the finish line. I love Parkrun.

I think it is brilliant for youngsters to be running with parents at an event like parkrun.
You, and the parkrun movement, are instilling so many excellent core values in these kids................they will be formidable (in the best sense of the word) adults.
