Week 5 - Music please!

Week 5 is around the corner and I am thinking that maybe I need to start running with music or podcasts or something, especially for run 3. Off to find my swimming headphones to see if I can use those... in the meantime I await your suggestions! Btw my pace will probably be around 9’/km so nothing toooo fast! Can’t wait to see what you suggest!

It all depends on your taste in music and your mood but my personal favourites are Muse or Stereophonics

I’ve got quite wide ranging tastes: classical, jazz, musical theatre, rock and popular music (Describing it that way makes me sound ancient and I’m not!) . Any particular songs fromt those groups?

I actually don't go for music to pace me I just use music I like seems to work

Yes I’m just worried that if I’m running on a different beat to the music in might start to annoy me. Anything you like to listen to?

I've got anything from Ruidimental to Ne-yo to Ellie goulding

Swimming headphones? I didn't even consider that such things existed :)

I know! I got them when I was swimming in a tiny pool and the back and forth bored me!

What kind of waterproof player do you need? And do the headphones have a cable? That could be awkward when swimming :)

Ted Talks. No beat so you can run at any pace you want, but keeps your mind busy. Download the podcasts. C25K interrupts when it needs to tell you to walk/run.

Thanks I think spoken word might be easier to run to for me. And a TEDTalk is 20 minutes so just right!

If you register with/use Spotify, you can listen to the playlists put together by jancanrun.

If you search for "Retro Runners" on this forum, you'll find many playlists. Here's the latest :

I listen to techno and UK garage on my runs as I find the pace perfect for me, does depend on my mood though! Just needs to be something I love with a steady beat

Thanks. Maybe I can try something on the shorter runs!

I just stick to stuff that I like - do you have iTunes? If so you can find my shared playlist “Stratters Running” - i out about 4 hrs of stuff in it ... that way I hit shuffle (appropriate ) and get different tunes in a different order every time 😀

Is it tomorrow you’re going to start knocking the hell out of week 5?

I’m planning to get run 1 done by 9.30 tomorrow - - so I can have a whole day feeling smug. 😉
