The run is calling me!

It is the most beautiful, crisp, winter morning in Kent. The grass says “crunch” underfoot and we are breathing out clouds. The sun is catching the ice layering the fields and hedgerows, making them sparkle and glint. Magpie-like, I want to put on my running shoes and take a closer look, become part of the landscape. I have had a rest day... it’s all out there, pristine, waiting for me. But then I won’t be able to run tomorrow and will instead have to wait for an hour looking at a running track waiting for my son to finish athletics... dilemmas dilemmas! 😆

Update: So I put on my deck wellies (designed for boats, with minimal grip, the equivalent of running shackles) and went for a walk. It was mid morning by the time I got out and where the sun had warmed the ground it was a little slippy, but not too bad. I thought I would scope out a new running route... there are a few hills to think about, there are a dozen gates to negotiate and I’ll need to go earlier when the ground is frozen - I spent more time than I wanted to looking at the ground, as it was a tad uneven and muddy in places - but that’s ok, because look at the view when your head comes up.

I’m finding as I run further that I am pushing my perimeters. I’m lucky enough to have this (literally) on my doorstep and have walked various parts, but running is turning me up new pathways. This walk was 4.5km and took 44 minutes... I wonder how long it will take to run it...?!

Yayyy well done, what a good idea to go and plan a run 🏃‍♀️. It got you out in the lovely (albeit cold) weather without you having to stand around in the cold tomorrow. I’m going to have to go out and explore the area. It’s quite nice down here but being the marshes it’s all the same and flat! Happy running tomorrow 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thanks Shelley. There are advantages to the flats! But yes, variety is the spice of life and all that - it’s good to explore 🙂

Oh and I love running on the sea wall, but it’s far too windy on there to run atm! Love taking the dog for a walk up there though 😊

Just make sure you are running with the wind behind you lol

Looks beautiful and it’s great finding new routes. Happy running for tomorrow. The hours I have wasted waiting for my boys when I could have been running.... so glad I started but wish I had found it before.

Thanks Wimborne! I have often wished I found climbing sooner, but the important thing is to have found it. Perhaps we appreciate it more as a result? 🙂

Yes I think we do.... had I started at any other time I possibly wouldn’t have even finished the programme let alone keep going. It came when I needed it to, even though I didn’t know it at the time and wasn’t looking for it either 😊

You are welcome! Yes, it was rather nice imagining running the various paths and tracks and seeing how far it was - and quite amazing to think how far we can run compared to when we started!
