Shoe porn - anyone like red?

I broke these in going to my electromyograph appointment at the hospital today. Not very exciting but they passed the walking around car parks test and didn't squeak on the clean floors! Who'd have thought!

If anyone has read my earlier posts or read my profile you'll know I suffered a bout of rhabdomyolysis. While in recovery I developed an excruciating burning pain in my right foot and my GP referred me for this test. The pain has gone but it's not 100%.

The test involves sticking electrodes on you to test your nerves are working and make your muscles twitch. That's the easy bit. Little sticky pads and little electric shocks, twitchy leg and foot. The next part of the test was less amusing.

A needle was mentioned in the blurb about 'what to expect'. It's very thin because it gets inserted into your muscle. I'm not squeamish but it would've been nice to know how long it was going to be. I'm thinking syringe needle length. Its about 3 inches long! He goes to put it in down the side the side of my shin and says "this might hurt a bit". Really...! Brown stuff and a fictional detective comes to mind. So he pushes it in and then tells me to relax. "Relax." "Relax". "RELAX!" he says a third time before I twig on. Obviously still in shock (the scared type, not the electrical type), a bit of pain, and not surprisingly, a bit tense, I realise the Geiger counter type noise the machine was now making was a reflection of how much my needle included muscle was working. So now I relax until the clicks stop.

"Good" he says and proceeds with the second part of the test measuring clicks from when I tense my muscle. The depth of insertion is charged at each test point. + yes - it was unpleasant + One in the shin, one in the thigh, and (why? when the pain was in my foot?) two in my shoulder ; front and back.

So he looks at the results. Huffs. "Normal."

He shows me the scatter points on the graph and they're all well within the green zone. So I ask about the nerves' performance and again he shows me the recording but this one looks like a sound recording with a central horizontal with spikes above and below. Also normal.

No pain no gain. Right?

And the worst of it is being told I'm normal. Tch! How can he miss those shoes?

Nice shoe porn.

Now, having know you for a while, “normal” isn’t the first word I’d use to describe you... heck it’s not in the top 100! I’d be getting a second opinion if I was you, this doctor is obviously nuts!

Good results my friend... now go get those shoes muddy!

I think the store come and take them back if they’re not brown within seven days! I need some trail shoes... so far I’ve bought 3 pairs of road shoes which is pretty crazy for someone who loves grass!

I've got no brand loyalty. I tried loads on from different brands. Last pair I try on and.... Asics again.

Gel Venture 6. They might not score well in reviews but they were the only ones that felt comfy and didn't move or rub.

No brainer really.

Those are some nice kicks! Definitely time to get them dirty, Mr Normal

Thanks Alliecat! Normally I don't like getting my paws 🐾 dirty but these go well with my black and orange waterproof socks. Hoping my test points feel less sore tomorrow so I can give them a whirl.

They are some seriously smart trail shoes Kat...

I’m lovin’ The red! ⚡️

The rest of that sounds absolutely horrific! Sorry you had to go through all that for nothing 🙆🏼‍♂️🤷🏼‍♂️ ...Brown stuff and a fictional detective 😂😂😂👌

I've avoided brown stuff when running so far. But deeper tread and going offroad...? The odds are getting shorter!

Relax? I’d have fainted !

And that doctor is obviously not a runner to ignore those super shoes. I’m getting very envious of new shoes pictures , I’m going to have to join you all soon.
