Hi Chloe.

In short, protein. You need it to build muscle and as it’s more complex than carbs and even fats, it remains in the digestive system longer before its digested, which means you stay fuller for longer. Obviously you need other food groups too... but increasing protein in percentage of what you eat terms should help all round.

Well done starting this... you can do it.

Hi,Thankyou ! I’ve never understood the whole carbs thing so am I best eating things like rice and chicken ? I’ve only done 3 runs but I’m already starting to feel better about myself :)

Rice is good, better if brown... chicken is good, turkey even better on the weight loss side of things (this coming from a vegetarian 😂)

My daughter eats what she used to, but in different proportions, so the meat element of her plate is larger, carbs bit is smaller and veg is same as it was. It’s working well for her. Also we take a little of her meat (literally 10g of chicken or something) and she has that after a run... gives the body the protein it craves without adding a snack.

Hi there! Well done on your progress so far! Just wondered if you’ve had rest days in between your runs as they are important! 😀

Some months ago, before I started jogging, I went on a three day fast with water, to kick start my metabolism. It worked as the stored fat in my body is used for energy. I have continued with intermittent fasting and another couple of three day fasts, proving that my energy, mental clarity and focus is wonderful, even when I’m jogging. Fasting clears dead cells in the mind and around the organs. Gets rid of inflammation and has changed by physique and my attitude to food.

Have a look at ketosis and it’s benefits besides losing weight and you will find that carbohydrates, except from vegetables, are the last thing you should be eating and high quality fat like avocado, hemp oil, coconut, olive oil, MCT oil, even butter are essential to your well being. Keep away from the vegetable oils like rape seed and sunflowers. Really bad for you.

The low fat concept was born in the 1960’s. by an American who manipulated statistics and basically told lies. For over fifty years the West’s food intake has been built in this lie.

Hope this helps. Look up ketosis and water fasting and see the science and nutrition behind it.

Variety is the spice of life.

Some good things to have are bananas before run: slow release energy, pasta, instead of sweets or cake a handfull of nuts, milk: refreshing and good for bones.

Reduce coffee; tea is better but water is best.

If you can home cooking is best, cut out or reduce carry-outs.

Hope some of this helps.

Well done for starting your journey on here. It’s a great place to come for advice and encouragement! I’ve completed the C25K and now on my consolidation runs. I’m also trying to eat healthy and lose weight in the process and I’ve just started using joe wicks lean in 15 cook books ...they are on offer in Aldi and they are brilliant! Each meal only takes 15 mins to make ...real bonus for me as I dislike cooking 😁 there’s meals fir your run days and meals for your rest days lots of tasty ingredients and variety. I don’t do diets so this is about a lifestyle change for me and I’m finding it easy ..I’m never hungry and I’ve lost 2kg in just over a week so I’m well happy 😁 good luck
