Some days you just don’t want to run...

Today was one of those days and I’ve had a few of those since Xmas. I wouldn’t say I’ve lost my mojo but I certainly felt like I misplaced it (with the tv remote perhaps). Anyway, it’s a grey, blustery morning with on and off drizzle. Perfect conditions to stay in and make a bacon sarnie. I needed a kick up the 4rse.

So I checked in here for the first time in a while. Read some posts from people on different stages of the journey. People committing to w1r1 and doing it (well done!) People stressing about W5r3 (lots of us do that), and people nearing the end, hitting a mental wall and not being sure of graduating (you can and you will). And it reminded me of my own journey. How far I’ve come and how much I get out of running and how stupid it would be to get into the habit of not running. I know I’d regret it. So drawing on the positivity and encouragement in this fab group I reluctantly pulled my trainers on and just went out and ran. It wasn’t quick. It wasn’t fun. But finishing felt great and even if I haven’t found my mojo again, I’ve got a good idea of where I left it.

Some days you just don’t feel like running. You’re not alone in that. Just remember why you started and how great you feel after a run (after the tired, achey bit!) and how amazing it will be to complete c25k and become ‘a runner’. Then gear up and get out there. You won’t regret it. Now where’s that bacon sarnie?...

What an encouraging post. It seems a few of us are suffering from January blues so to speak. My confidence has simply "run" away so I'm having a battle with myself. Everything you say is spot on. Continue to keep going and you are absolutely right as any run is better than no run 😁

Absolutely! I’ve really struggled lately. It’s my first ‘running’ winter and getting out in the cold and damp doesn’t come easy. Just got to dig deep and hang on in there!

Think there is definitely something to be said about Christmas throwing everyone off and ruining a routine! Glad that you’re back at it!

Yep. Xmas. Winter. A general ‘so what now?’ Feeling. Just got to get back in the groove.

Those sarnies taste better when they’re fairly earned - enjoy ! 🥪 😋

Thanks. I think that’s the key. You’ve got to go and find it because it’s probably not going to come looking for you!

It’s certainly not going to jump on us whilst we are lying on the couch! 😜
