What is your week January

Hello to all our new comers for 2019. Please get involved and put a post up as to which week you are doing and how you are getting on, it is great, to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates.

So please say Hi

Rfc x

For me this week is getting back to running after a rotten cold, so I shall be taking it slow and steady and building up again. Happy running to you all. Rfc x

W1R1 tomorrow. All my runs are in the diary so, with a bit of luck and following everyone's advice, I will graduate on 9th March, 2 days after my 44th birthday. I've trained up by doing a VERY slow Parkrun and a few days of 10k+ walking at 130bpm. Already I feel so much better! Wish me luck!

Good luck, if you need it be prepared to repeat runs if necessary, not trying to be negative just to put it out there. Learning to run at your own pace is one of the most important lessons you can learn.

Crap - really bad cold. Was supposed to do a six mile run yesterday but felt woozy. Feeling a heck of a lot more than woozy today :(

I'm sure you don't need telling to ease yourself back in gently. But I look forward to reading all about it! 👍

Hello! I started December 25th (while the turkey was roasting!) and I’m going to be doing W3 R1 later tonight. Went out on Friday in the freezing cold and it was pretty proud of myself for getting out and doing it - previously I would have found 20 reasons not to do it so that was a real achievement for me

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate in reply to Meirariem

That was a great day to start. You sound like you have commitment in the bag, well done Rfc x

Thank you! Tonight was really tough, the last run of W3 R1 almost did me in - when I went to do the last cool down walk my legs forgot how to work and I almost landed flat on my face!

Completed W1R3 today. If hoped to have done it by last did at, but that thing called work for in the way. Roll on the lighter evenings, as due to lack of street lighting, I don't fancy going out once it's dark. So if I'm not out by 3.30, I dont go. Week 2 awaits ...

I must admit I am not a night time runner either, you will be surprised how soon it starts getting lighter, well done on your runs. Rfc x

Not just dark, but a bit remote too. (Not that I'm complaining!)

W2R1 completed on second attempt because my husband is taking part with me but has started to do little variations on the route so it is like having a dog who keeps coming and going but it makes me feel inadequate. In the end I just walked and then when we got home I went out again and managed to run it all except one section when I was close to a real dog and never run past them. I need to learn to concentrate on what I am doing not others.....fast.

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate in reply to Bodg

I can’t run with my OH, he just leaves me behind and I get disillusioned. I did it twice now, I just go out on my own, I’m a happier runner on my own. 😀 so I understand. Well done on getting it completed after all that.

Well done you! I'm 59 and had never run at all, I wasn't sure Id stick with it at first, but now I actually enjoy running, and I have been surprised how soon you build up stamina. (Week 8 now)

I was doing really well and got to W5r3 and then had to rest for a week with a sore foot. I am hoping to get back today with W6R1 but am accepting that I might not manage it. I can't plod any slower than I do already!

Realfoodieclub profile image
RealfoodieclubGraduate in reply to mafee

I hope you foot Heals swiftly. As a fellow plodder it took me years to learn I could go slower and it has changed all my running and strangely enough made me faster, we need a slower pace to have recovery runs but it is so hard to do, even when I talked to the physio about it they said even the most accomplished runners have trouble slowing down just a bit more, take care. Rfc x

Hi. I completed Wk3R1 today. Running for 3 mins wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. It was cold and rainy but didn’t matter. My distance was shorter though - maybe my run is more of a shuffle!! I am really enjoying C25K, crossing off every run on the chart is brilliant!!

Mathilda1 profile image
Mathilda1Graduate in reply to Biddy55

I have also just completed w3r1, I found the same re distance being shorter but I was definitely shuffling at a gentle pace! But I made it and still had some energy left at the end so bonus. I’ve really surprised myself at how much I’m enjoying it too. Hope I’m still saying this in a few more weeks! Good luck

For me completed c25k last year june. Now do 5-7k 3 times a week, sometimes 10k.

Doing it at my own speed but feel healthier more toned my joints are less achy and less stiff and sleeping better.

Definitely going to continue once graduating.

Thanks to all for posting have found the comments really helpful.

Usually run on my own with music playing but have a friend joining me this week hope it works out feel a bit nervous about it .

Hi. This is the end of week 2 for me. I started on 8th January. I didn’t even plan to do this, it just came to me on January 2 nd and I decided to give it a go!

I have just finished Wk3 Run2 still finding the first run of any set to be the hardest, not sure why that is as the second run being twice as long is easier, must be a head thing. Anyway enjoying the challenge so far and determined to continue to the end.

Hi, I’ve been doing week 1 run 1 since the start of Jan on my treadmill. Will be moving to week 2 in Feb. Going slow as I’m 53 just quit smoking and have not run since school 🙂

It’s W4R2 for me tomorrow. Totally surprised myself as have mild CFS and haven’t run since I was a teenager, so wasn’t sure how I’d get on! Actually enjoying it and look forward to each challenge as it gets harder!
