Any of you who have read one of my infrequent posts will know that one of my reasons for starting c25k back in May was an unexpected diagnosis of type 2 diabetes, together with a wish to get fitter following recent retirement at 63. My blood sugar level then was 54 with the diagnosis level being 48 and 42-47 classed as pre-diabetes.
Having completed c25k in July and achieved 10k in October, I am continuing to run 3 times a week – I’ve also changed my diet to reduce carbs and particularly sugar. This has led to a weight loss of about 2 ½ stone over that period.
I’ve recently had my six-month monthly diabetes assessment and my blood sugar level has now reduced to 42 i.e. only one above the normal range. I am sure that achievement has been made possible by the c25k programme and the support from this forum. I am confident that my next blood test will show that the diabetes has been fully reversed! Hopefully this may be helpful to others with a type 2 diagnosis considering this programme.
