W12R2 - running me, my nose, and my dog

As I promised to lusmo (thank you), I did go out today for a 10 minute jog.

I went with my dog, as I knew otherwise after walking her I will not go anywhere. So I pushed myself very hard to put on running gear on me (this is always the hardest part) and we head out. I decided to try 'naked' run, so no headphones, no music, no guided or motivational talks, just me my dog and canal path. My doggy was a black fury, she was running like crazy forth and back - I think she had energy for us both :P

I wasn't tracking time or distance. I just jog until I decided it's time to turn around and job back. When I wanted to finish I saw 19 minutes, so I jogged for 1 more minute finishing with 2.7km in 20 min. I finished just in time, as it started to be really dark. But I was prepared, and just in case, I had a head torch in my pocket.

Slow jog. No pressure. I think behind me I've noticed the shadow of my running mojo. The run wasn't joyful or pleasurable, but it wasn't unpleasant. Putting running clothes, pushing myself out of the door, and convincing myself to actually start jogging was the hardest part - a lot of self talk, with promise in the back of my head, remembering all your kind and motivational words, reminding myself all of your inspirational posts... But then it just kind of go smooth.

I finished the run with some booty exercises for runners with small bands, core strengthening using Nike Training app and finishing planks, and a proper session of stretching. I didn't go for hot shower, I decided to give myself a bit of pleasure and took a long, very warm bubble bath :)

Maybe, just maybe, I am back on track with running. I think I will do at least one more run without any goal of time or distance, but I haven't decided yet.

Fantastic! I knew you could do it! 🙌 👏 🤝 👍

Congratulations on the amazing decision, the strong will and the great run!

You can be proud of yourself, you've done something for yourself.

I am very happy,

I am delighted and inspired to run again (on Monday). Will you join? ;-)

Thank you :)

I believe that your running mojo and joy will eventually join you during one of your runs and surprise you :) I wish I could somehow make it happen for you.

I was thinking about having a daylight run on Sunday. But to be honest I like our runs together, so I will see how houseworks will go over the weekend.

Sorry to hear you're struggling for motivation.

Running without music etc is a good idea. Learn to enjoy your run just because.

Over 2k in 20 minutes seems like a nice steady pace to me.

I hope you're feeling better now? 😸

I feeling better :) I don't feel that I'm failing myself and my body although a bit sore is thanking me.

Well done IgaT. No pressure, do as little or as much as you want.

And sounds like your dog loved it too!

Great to hear you got out there on Friday IgaT, you did double what you initially intended to do ...so that’s fab! This definitely sounds like you’re starting to get back on track - keep up the good work 👍⚡️

Thanks ThunderSloth :) Ahead of me is the last week before holidays. Then, the new adventure and challenge - running while being on holiday.

in reply to IgaT

Oh right, sounds good👌 Are you going anywhere nice IgaT or is this a home holiday?

First visiting parents and friends in Poland. And then the honeymoon in the furthest countey I have ever been, cross the ocean for the first time, so close to equator for the first time, cloud forests, beaches, volcanoes... Costa Rica my dream :) followed by some more home holidays :) So everything :P

Oooh congratulations! Wow! that sounds absolutely amazing... a trip of a lifetime!

Sounds perfect ...and probably just what you need 👌👍

You’ll have to tell us all about it when you get back, what an adventure 🤩

I think it is one in a lifetime trip / adventure / holiday :)

I just still struggle to see myself waking up and going for a run over there. Or after adventurous day go for an evening run and not being eaten by mosquitos :P

I’m very envious of that dilemma you have IgaT... 😁 I’m sure you’ll find time, I’m just picturing a morning run on a perfect deserted beach 🏖 ...Bliss ✌️

What about run in cloudy forest on the volcano footstep? I can't imagine myself there at all, not to even think about running there. It is still only a dream to me.

Congratulations to you IgaT on your honeymoon! Bet it will be amazing. Maybe take trainers just in case? But just to have a couple of weeks off is fine. I read on here someone said just go out in normal clothes and try a small run... although my worry there is you need support in some areas 😊

Thank you :)

I will take my trainers and I will have my hiking clothes, and I was running in most of hike clothes anyway (only short leggings that I will take as well).

My worry would be I can get too hot in normal clothes :P
