How to carry a phone?

Hi, I’ve just run wk 6 run 1 this morning and have managed up until now with my old trusted iPod in my pocket, but it ran out of charge this morning immediately as I finished the running section. It was fully charged before I started the run. I’m now thinking I need to use my phone instead for the podcast as they get longer, which is much bulkier and won’t fit into my pocket. What do others do?

I carried mine in my hand for most of C25k... my daughter used a bum bag... now we have running belts.

Good job on the running... enjoy the next one.

You can get tights with bigger pockets. The pocket in my Ron Hill tights is huge. I have some Nike’s with a big back pocket. Ron hill trail tights have three pockets big enough to fit a phone. My new Decathlon trail tights have four pockets - back, front and one each side. Also my run jackets have pockets You can never have too many 😁👍

I wear a really thin running jacket just so I can put my phone in the pocket and zip it up. I do however need to zip the jacket up otherwise you can feel the phone when you are running and feels a bit heavier. You could always try a belt or you can get an arm band where your phone sits in aswell?

I have an armband I got from Amazon for about 12 quid, it's done alright to be fair it holds my phone s9 really well and the cover responds to the touch screen and the strap barely slips.

Only issue I have is I can't see the screen all that easily so currently stalking eBay for a GPS watch as I'm at the stage now where I've started to record the runs and I like to see how far I've got etc.

I stick it in my bra. I wear a sport bra and just pop it next to my arm pit - bit chilly first off but totally forget it's there within minutes 😀

What a good idea. I’ll try that.

Lots of good ideas above: another is to leave the phone at home and just set a timer on your watch as a backup in case the iPod runs out of juice. You can get away with that because W6R2 is the last run with walking intervals. I did the whole of weeks 8 and 9 with no music and no app because I was running in locations where I thought it was safer not to have headphones - just using my watch to time 28 or 30 minutes.

Flipbelt, or my hoodie with zip pocket with media outlet. 😊

in reply to Jell6

Hey Jell6, I’m thinking about buying a Flipbelt... I only want it to carry my phone & door/car key... does it stay put whilst you’re running? I’m unsure if I should go for one or stick to an arm band 🤷‍♀️

Hello Dreams, mine does, but I tried it on before I got it, I wanted to wear it at hip rather than waist, so sized up.

It fits all my stuff in.🤩

Thank you Jell6, I’m thinking hips too... Good tip to go up a size! I’m so tempted to order one🤩 Glad you enjoy yours👌

Being a weirdo, I wear a rucksack. Carries water, phone, warm top, keys etc in total convenience and weighs next to nothing. Not that I could race in it, but it’ll be a long time before I have to worry about that ! Also means I can pick up the shopping on the way home . . .

I've got an armband - got it for less than £10 off Amazon. There are lots out there. It has space in the top to put my headphones through and it also has a little slot for my keys as well.

I wear a running belt! It’s so good as you can’t feel it when you’re running 👍🏼

I fall into the running belt camp too. I searched for fitbelt on good old ebay and found a looky likey for under a fiver.
