I did it! Week 5 run 3, the big twenty. So pleased. I never believed I could run so far when only a few weeks ago I found running 3 mins on the treadmill virtual hell. I’m really loving feeling like I can actually do this, I doubt I could do 5K in 30 mins but I’m not worried about that at the moment. With time will come speed or at least a little quickening if my pace. Managed a mile in just over 12 mins 30 seconds and as I officially middle aged and have never run before (apart from a charity 5K when I was in my twenties) well I’m really pleased with me. I now truly believe I can run 30 minutes when the time comes and I’m super happy. Thanks everyone for tour support this morning, it meant a lot. So far no glitches with the runs, I’ve not given up and I hope to continue with this training and hopefully keep getting fit!

Well done ! I’m in the same place as you and am also middle aged (what am ugly word) never think of myself in those terms. I also know I can do it and my goal is to do a park run 🏃‍♀️.

I never say I’m middle aged either normally, think I just did in the excitement of finishing 20 mins :-) shall not say it again ☺️

Well done RAS27 on completing run 3 of week 5, that run is a milestone run in C25K, don't worry about speed until you have graduated 🎓 😊, that comes after several 30 minute runs after you graduate, what we call consolidation runs.

Great run. I didn’t do 5k in 30 on plan either... I care not... I ran 44 yesterday 😂

12ish minute miles are good for the 5th week of running, and will still be desirable after 500 weeks! Celebrate the fact you can lace up and run... that’s a big victory over a few weeks ago. That 30 isn’t even in question, you’ll run it soon.

Week 6 starts off looking easy... give it some respect and go off slowly, and then you got this in your pocket. Very well done.

Thank you so much for the advice. I’m going at this as a tortoise rather than a hare and as you say with practice will come a little more speed. What I don’t want to do it get an injury or have to stop as I’m just loving it. I appreciate your comment and support, thank you.

I came here wanting my 16 year old speed back... but I’m 46! I learned I wasn’t that athlete any more the hard way and spent two weeks injured, kudos to you for having the right mindset here. I’ve learned a lot from people here, especially the admins and our wonderful mentor. I love my fast still, even though it’s a lot less than I had, but that slow... well... I’m so in love with that! Tortoise rocks, sometimes snail even beats that... and that IS running... just love it!

I’m 46 too so it’s good to have running and age in common. Thanks for the tips and support. Tortoise now needs to sleep ;-) and hope she can stand in the morning hehe.

You can do it, promise. Just take it easy, relax and get your pace sorted and you’ll be fine. Hope it goes well. Let us know :-)
