A run from the dark side

It wasn’t pretty. I hardly jogged at all, and when I did it showed all the poor co-ordination and produced the same fearsome quantities of lactic acid I remember so well from school PE. The only thing missing was the crowd of spotty jeering classmates. But I squeezed this one in despite a host of pressures and excuses. I had overwhelming news yesterday, another blasted argument about Christmas and a lousy night’s sleep. I had to sneak out without breakfast to avoid being held up by it all flaring up again. I managed to jog a bit of every run and I forced myself to do the whole of the last one, in spite of everything. So on the grounds that the only run you fail is the one you don’t go for, today I think I’m my own hero, just for getting out and trying against the odds. Onwards and upwards. And a better day for the rest of you !

Another good session... against all odds too... well done... there’s no keeping you down.

It wasn’t good ! But I did it anyway. I think “character building” may be the appropriate expression 😄

Thanks ! I refuse to be beaten, even by my own legs 😁

Well done bck. Remember: the pain you endured is worth it to earn the smugness!

Not really smug - more knackered but defiant ! Thanks for the encouragement JD x

Be smug. Seriously. Smugness is the best part. That and talking endlessly about running to an audience that aren't interested. 😂

You do have a point there 😄

I do admire your attitude and dedication on running BCK, perseverence is the name of the game for you, as part of your audience I AM interested on knowing what your progress is here on C25K. You say you had another blasted argument about Christmas,🎄 most families do but you seem to have started a little sooner than most😊, as Oldfloss says regarding your runs, " Slow and steady, just let your legs take you along", I just hope that your next run of week 2 is much better for you 🏃😊

Early ?!! The Christmas argument starts in September in this family and returns at regular intervals like an unfunny advert ! Thanks for your encouragement, AlMorr. Better times ahead x

September, my goodness me, goodness knows what it will be like at Christmas Dinner on the 25 December, perhaps instead of preparing a Xmas 🎄 meal for your family, go out and run a 5k and let then do all the hard work regarding Christmas dinner😊

That sounds like a great idea ! I think we’d all end up very hungry though 😜

Troubles always come in cyclones, as it says in James Herriot 😄

Well done on getting out, I know how hard it can be when we've so many things happening behind the scenes. I still maintain that even if the run isn't brilliant, it's the getting out that helps mentally even for just awhile 😉x

Completely agree with you, Sweetpea. The only failure is not to have tried. That’s a quote, but I can’t remember who from offhand 😀

It was Jilly Cooper what said it 😀

You're right, the only fail is a no run. Well done, especially on running the whole of the last segment. That would (for me and I imagine others) be the easiest one to not do, and you did it all. Well done!
