Food Poisoning... What do I do about #Couchto5k Week 7?

I contracted food poisoning Friday night.. been on water since. Its now Sunday - the nausea has stopped but still racing to the loo.

I successfully completed my 25min run Wk6R3 on Thursday. When do I sensibly return to Wk7 ?

The getting ill part has really knocked me as didn't expect this as was planned to see friends today and do my Wk7R1 this morning. Feel bad i cant do the run today.

Any encouraging thoughts/ideas would be really helpful.

Don't worry!! It's more important to get back to normal. The run can wait a few days, it really can.

Look after yourself first and when you feel well re-hydrated and more normal then you'll smash it. I know the fear of "missing" runs but it will be ok. 👍😉

Good morning chris, I wouldn’t even attempt a run until your fighting fit again. Wait until you e stopped having to run the loo and don’t forget you’ll need plenty of fuel in the body again. Once your better give yourself another couple of days to get plenty of fluids back in you and get your strength back up

Yes. Was just worried I had to repeat weeks having done so well so far. It knocked me.

You should be ok for up to 2 weeks without having to repeat so just concentrate on getting well.

Thanks. Thats a relief. I do think my lower legs calves do feel more muscley. Or maybe to just tight from running.

Oh no Chris, that’s a shame. But don’t worry, take a good few days to recover, rehydrate and generally get strong and feel good again before even attempting to run. Don’t rush the process.

W7 will be there waiting for you. Just resume where you left off, super super slowly. Ease into your run and you’ll be fine.

In the meantime, take care of yourself. It’s permission for legitimate couch time! 👍

You're right. Least in a weird way I'd have lost some weight lol. Amazing how the runs stops runs!

Hey Chris

Just get well, rest up. Drink plenty of water. When you are able to run again in a few days your enthusiasm and determination will get you back on target in no time. Your body is you running tool, nurture it for a few days

Thanks OverTheFields just panicked as was doing so well with scheduling the runs in then this happens. You're right will just have to listen to the running machine.

Like others have said, you won’t lose all of your fitness over a few days. You’ll want to feel fit and well before running. Rest up and you’ll get better quicker

Take it easy and get yourself rehydrated over the next couple of days. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, my children gave me the name when they were little. It was derived from a character in Monsters Inc called Mike Wazowski. The children mispronounced it though. I've no idea why they thought I was like him: I'm not green, I have more than one eye, and I'm not that round (I hope). 🤣

Get over it completely and make sure you’re getting some electrolytes in you. The runs will wait.

First and foremost, get better and do not worry about anything else! I wish you speedy recovery!

Second, running is more of a journey hopefully lifetime one, so delay won't hurt it. Even the break up to one week shouldn't affect your schedule largely. Your first run after an illness, especially this one, may be difficult as you will be weak, so just go super slow, and I would suggest repeating last run (W6R3). You will see how you feel, but you should be able to continue as normal ;)

Good advice I think W7R1 is the same as WK6R3

Yes, you are right. Only my app was a little different and I had 22 minutes for W6R3 and 25 minutes for W7R1 :P But official one says 25 minutes for both of them :) Just go slow and steady, but AFTER you feel better.
