I've decided to post as wanted to make sure I was committed to this. I've been lazy for years but just decided 1 day snap I need to do something about this (midlife crisis didn't think I was old enough but hey).

I've bought a holder to stop my phone flying and a more suitable pair of trainers as a reward for sticking it so far.

I've found each week that the first run is really testing, the second is better and the third is fine but I'm tired. Also my shins hurt like a bitch but trying to run on grass when I can.

I'm absolutely loving it and I look forward to my runs and love the satisfaction of completing them (the bit in between is a killer) I've been out on freezing nights, hot afternoons and torrential drizzle but still going. Anyone got any advice on how to avoid getting a stitch?

Welcome and well done so far.

Shins: runnersworld.com/shin-splints/

Run nice and slow and land your feet flat and under your body.

The love for the middle bit will come... just keep getting out there and doing it.
