W5R2 done and feeling amazing, not sure about Friday!

Wow wow wow I'm so pleased with myself today. This overweight forty-something geezer whose previous run up til 5 weeks ago was on school sports day has achieved what I thought was the unachievable!

Two 8 minute runs this morning! So pleased with myself!

The first one was comfortable, probably should've turned it up a notch as I could've carried on after the eight, second a little tougher but again could've done a little more 😊. A couple of weeks ago I was begging Laura to tell me to stop running after 90 seconds!

My tactics - leg exercises the day before, keep the pace slow, have some good running music, pick out landmarks to aim for/beyond, and most of all keep saying "I CAN DO THIS".

I'm sure I won't be quite as chirpy come Friday for the 20 minute run but for now, I kick ass!

(Note to admins, how do I change my username?!)

Thank you for all your encouragement so far, it really helps.

TTFN xx

You can do it and you will do it "Ihaterunnin", you have done so well in getting this far on the program. Regarding W5R3 just take that 20 minute run at a slow running pace, after that you will certainly want to change your username to "ILOVE RUNNIN" As far as changing your username name, I think somewhere on the homepage on healthunlocked C25K there is a edit tag on your profile name, just click on the link and you can change it.

Thanks for your advice and words of encouragement AlMorr.

I have gone into my profile and it looks like my username is the only non-amendable field! Oh well, I know it's no longer true :-)

Thanks again.

Well IHR, you’ve done everything right so far. πŸ‘πŸƒ Staying slow, picking out landmarks - just do exactly the same again on R3 and you will smash it, no doubt about it!

You’ll surprise yourself how you settle into a rhythm with no walking interruptions. It actually feels easier! You’ll be so proud of yourself, mark my words. πŸ˜€

Good luck, and don’t forget to report back. πŸƒπŸ’ͺπŸ‘

Awesome!!! You and I are so similar reading through all that. I've had to take a few more rest days than planned due to pain from shin splints but finally completed W5 R1 this morning πŸ˜€ It's a blast isn't it πŸ˜€

What a inspiring post and great achievement! Huge congratulations! You will crack on with your next run! It looks like you are in good place right now.

What leg exercises are you doing? I was afraid o "kill" my legs before the run day, so I used to do leg exercises after a run before my 2 day rest, or on Saturday (I run Mon, Wed, Fri).
