Feeling guilty

Have been reading all your wonderful posts, I am finding it really hard to get motivated with the dark mornings. I’m used to getting up and going out at about 6.15, but now it’s dark at that time and I don’t want to run in the dark.......going out any later doesn’t fit in with getting ready for work......has anyone else been facing this problem? 😀

If you can find a C25K group in your area that would be good. I found one on Facebook nearby.

Also I found several running groups & meet up with people no and then. I just searched running groups in my town plus surrounding towns. Also try running clubs as they sometimes put on the C25K plans also.

Good luck

It’s not easy. Could you run at lunch? Or evenings? Obviously dark in the evening too but more people around.

I do find that some mornings are harder to wake up and I recognise that as my body is tired and needs a little longer to rest- however I do then run after work/uni!

But in my case, I’d much rather struggle for the first ten minutes of waking up to do the run at sunrise than the one in the evening when I’m already exhausted and still have a thousand of other tasks to complete!!!!

Ps. I went running at sunset last night and I was uncomfortable with the running in the dark in the park...(thank god for my GSD who only looks fierce, but that’s enough!)

Good luck though! X

Thank you.....will give evening running a go, but like you I really enjoy a morning run, it’s a magical time and sets you up for the day 😀

Perhaps you could be very clear as to why you don’t want to run in the dark - are they gremlins or real reasons? If you can work out a way to overcome your objections then you’re all set to continue to reap all the benefits of the work you and Laura put in to get you to where you are? I’m also finding motivation hard post graduation but as I’m retired darkness isn’t a problem - I’m just finding I stay in bed for much longer on days I’m meant to be going for a run! I need to get more enjoyment and less suffering from my runs, at the moment I’m hanging in there hoping this will happen.
