w6R1 - why was that so tough?!

So after actually almost enjoying W5R3 & thinking that the 30min goal seemed possible for the first time, today’s run really knocked me down! I couldn’t understand why I was struggling so much! I made it to the end but didn’t enjoy it. After reading a few posts on here I see that I’m not alone - thank you to all lovely people posting - you have made me feel much better! Does anyone know why this particular run catches so many of us out? Hopefully the rest of week 6 goes more smoothly!

That run has caught many out and it’s almost beaten many many more. Very well done on completing it.

I think it’s the euphoria of running 20 minutes, so 8 is easy... so the tendency is to go attack it, even if subconsciously... then it bites you on the ass with the intervals. Needs discipline to get through it easily and my hat is off to all who do!

It's different.... that's why.

This running is about so much more than just one foot in front of the other...timing, pace, discipline... That is why we say take it slowly and steadily. That way you are ready for each and every run:)

If you trust the programme... and have confidence in yourself.. then you will be fine:)

Ahhhh...we are on the same day! Totally agree! I was thinking all along that it was tough today, and it’s the first time my smiley face was worse after the run than it was before.

I was thinking I really hope it doesn’t always feel this difficult, as I just don’t think I could do it over and over if I find it that hard and unenjoyable!

Here’s hoping W6R2 brings back more positivity!! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

You’re not alone!

You'll be fine. The programme is really cleverly compiled as you've discovered, but you've got this far. Just start slow and slow down more if necessary. Only 1 more run with walking breaks after that it's all running. Many people find this more comfortable. Don't get stressed, remember what Oldfloss has advised.

One twenty minute run does not a runner make.........

......... psychology and the fact that it is your longest workout to date.
