My nose runs quicker than me

That was W5R1, and my first run with a cold. It's already chilly here in the morning, and I needed a headlamp for the first half – another first.

I still did ok with those three five-minute runs. The first one was really hard, mostly because my warm-up consists of walking up a steep road leading to the hiking paths. It takes me a bit more than five minutes so I usually start running with some of the hill left. Today, for some reason, I found it more difficult than usual. It took some determination not to stop once I'd reached the top !

I can't believe it's week 5 already and I'll be running for 20 minutes on Friday.

Keep going very slowly and you’ll be ok.

Well done! But do be careful about running with a cold ... go much slower than usual. Your body needs it's rest to help fight off the bugs. My nose runs whenever I run / walk, cold or not! Good luck ... and enjoy the journey :) :) x

Thank you ! Yes, I'd thought I'd run to try and clear my head, but boy was it hard ;) Each step was an effort and my body ached all over for the rest of the day. I'll certainly be more careful next time !

Hope you're feeling better now? I recommend yoga on your non-running days to help keep your muscles strong and long. I'm a recent convert - using Travis Elliott's "Ultimate yogi" dvds. It"s improved my flexibility already, as well as being fun, challenging and relaxing in equal measure. Wish I'd started years ago! :)
