Just came back from the doctor...

...aaaand it's osteoarthritis in both knees. Damn! He gave me an injection in one to see how I'll fare with it. And told me to lose weight. No running for a couple of days :(

Then he referred me to a heart specialist because I keep getting these little pains in my heart and left arm when I'm running. I hope that's nothing serious because if it is my running days are over :(

On a good note, that sore mole I got is fine.

PS: Gonna read up on stuff: physiologicnyc.com/running-...

Stop googling ailments. It’s fatal 😁

There's good tips, though. Gotta look after those knees.

Losing weight is going to help with everything. Taking the weight off your joints will be better than medicine I lost nearly five stones and I can’t tell you what a relief it is 😃

It was one reason why I started up running in the first place. And I've already dropped 8lbs so far. But I gotta stop on the ice-cream and cake. It's gonna be hard but I'll just let me knee tell me off when I eat too much.

What a shame. How discouraging. :(

I will prevail. Doctor said I was fine to run after a couple of days but not run a marathon (I'm on Week 2, so slim chance). And if the heart really turns out to be a problem, I hope there will be ways to get around it somehow.

Hi, dont assume that heart problems mean the end of your running. My father in law had triple heart bypass and went back to running afterwards. Ok he's not Mo Farah but he still gets out there and enjoys himself.

My Gran had a great saying "dont borrow worry" so dont worry about things that are either out of your control or unconfirmed as its unproductive and steals enjoyment from your life. By all means acknowledge there is a problem but dont start changing life plans until you have all the facts.

Hope the injection works on the ol' knees :) If you cant run for a while could you try swimming, it will help keep you fit without the impact.

Oh, I'm glad to hear this. I'm trying not to worry about the heart until confirmed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And the knee only needs a couple of days' rest, so I'll be running on Saturday instead of tomorrow. But I'm gonna take it real slow (as if I could do anything else). :D Thank you for your answer!!!

Yes, any excuse ;) I'm making a nice Jog Rock playlist too. Helps me go slower :D
