Breaking barriers - First post-grad runπŸ˜ƒ

Without the pressure of working towards graduation, I decided that my first post-grad run would be focussed on tackling my fear of the treadmill.....with very low expectations of simply being able to run for a full 30mins on the treadmill without worrying about distance or pace.

And......I smashed it!!!!πŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺπŸ’ͺ

In true snail style, I lasted on the treadmill for a full 40mins (incl warm up at thecsyart and the end) and covered 3.2k 🐌🐌🐌

Did I love it? It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. And I'm happy with that for now😊

I'm very very proud of being able to do this.....as it means I have the ability to carry on running regularly during the winter months.......!!!!😁

Its given me the freedom to stop worrying and to simply focus on enjoying my new-found ability of running for 30+ mins.....and begin to start thinking about "What next?"

Whenever and wherever you are running.......Happy running, everyone!!!!πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜

Give it a go one day.......if a numpty like me can manage it, then running stalwarts like you should find it a doddle!πŸ˜‰

I shall. There's a hotel by our house and a they have a gym. Will go and buy the guy on reception a beer when I get back this week and see whether I can have a go. Running stalwart πŸ˜‚

😊 #wehaveaplan!!!!

The only thing I'd recommend is start with a slow speed to warm up/get the hang of it......and then increase the speed as you see fit.

That's where I was going wrong the first 2 times I failed to last more than 10mins......!!!!

Let us know how it goes.......!!!

You are now in the post graduation twilight zone, or at least fast coming up to it. By that I mean for the last 9 weeks or so somebody has told you what to do, when to walk, when to run, how long for etc. The general wisdom post graduation is to consolidate, running 30 mins three times a week, still not worrying about pace or distance, but once through that, you will have to decide what to do next, lots of options, something to think about!

I ran along the Week9 structure but without Laura telling me when to start, stop, etc

It was indeed liberating to not need earphones...i even forgot to wear my fitbit.....lol!!!

Twilight zone....that is a lovely way of putting it. I definitely have some thinking to do when I get back from holiday.....

Good for you Hotheels! You have that in your back pocket to use if (when) the weather gets really foul over the winter! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘πŸ»

I don’t have one, nor do I belong to a gym, so I’ll be the one togged up to the eyeballs come wind/rain/snow this winter! I’ll need to ask what people wear in those situations - I really have no idea!

Happy post-grad running! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

Thanks Cheeky!!!! I'm just glad I have the option now......as I am keen to make time for running regularly....so that it just becomes another thing I do as part of my normal routine.

Seeing how frustrated I was getting when I had to take a week off earlier.....I didn't want to be in a situation where I was itching to run but couldn't because of foul weather.

This way.....I have no excuses for being lazy!!!!πŸ˜‰

Well done for facing down the treadmill monster 😈😈😈

It's nice to have a contingency; I always find that very reassuring.

Un-demonising the "dreadmill" has gone a long way in helping me relax on my holiday.....as I was always on edge to wake up really early to do a run before it hit 30C+.........now I know that I can use the gym during the day and stay on track.........it also means when i head back home, I have no weather-related excuse to miss a run......lol!!!!πŸ˜‰

I can be lazy like that.....so every little helps!!!!πŸ˜…πŸ˜…
