3rd Post Grad Run

What a lovely jog in the rain. No, I'm not being sarcastic, I love running in the rain. Press play for a downloaded podcast, grab the dogs and off we go. Just one teeny tiny problem. Wet feet. Love my trainers, so comfy but alas not waterproof. I'm a kid and so I head straight for the puddles and the muddy bits, don't mind a bit getting filthy! But, splashing the whole way round in sodden socks really isn't nice.

Any recommendations for waterproof footwear ( I run cross country track, very stoney, rutted, muddy etc with very little road )

Thanks peeps. X

You can get running shoes with Gore-tex which are waterproof. I bought a pair and they were waterproof, but my feet got so hot! Prefer wet feet now. Try Salomon Speedcross GTX if you fancy trying some - these are for cross-country rather than road.

Ooh thanks Mike, prob pop into my nearest running shop and take a look tomorrow, see if what they have in stock.

I'm so jealous! I wanted to do my session this morning whilst it's raining but I have to wait until tonight as I'm accompanying someone else.

Several brands of waterproof socks are available on Amazon, for around £20ish, most have 4-4.5 stars for customer reviews. I've never tried any so cannot say how well they work.

I was looking into fell running a couple of weeks back and found some good websites that set out best trainers to wear, how best to dry them out etc. From memory, trail running shoes aren’t waterproof but are designed to drain the water quickly and dry (I think!). If I can find the links I’ll pop them on here for you.

Sounds lovely JoPo! Lovely cooling rain! ❤️

I must admit I hadn’t thought of the wet trainer problem either! I’ve only done one wettish run so it hasn’t been an issue yet ..... 😳

Will be interested to hear what you end up deciding upon! 😀🏃‍♀️👍🏻

I'm off to the running shop today so I'll let you know. Problem with where I run is that my first 50 metres is through a barley field which always seems to be wet! Not complaining though, it's a beautiful place to run but I get wet right at the start!!
