Bottled W5R3 so re ran W5R2

Opened W5R3 this morning to see 5 min warm up walk followed by 20 mins running with no walking rest periods then 5 mins warm down walk. Completely bottled it and went back to R2 with my two 8 min runs and found it easier than Saturday morning when I did it.

Determined to try R3 Thursday morning now and see how it goes.... 😐

That’s another run under your belt, and you’ll be a little bit stronger going into R3... relax and go get it on Thursday!

Try not to think about it too much. I was really stressing about it but once I got going it was ok. Can't say it was easy but nowhere near as bad as I'd imagined it would be.

Once you set off keep a slow pace and if you feel you are struggling slow some more.

Good luck x

I remember doing almost exactly the same, except I bottled it twice 😳 I hardly slept the night before the run itself I was so psyched. But you’ll surprise yourself I’m sure of it. Just remember to slow up if it gets tough and hey, if you don’t make it, so what. Do it another time. Good luck 😉

Running the 20 mins is not as hard as you imagine, just go for it 😀

I have the run to do myself on Thursday and I figure that it doesn’t matter how slow I go as long as I finish. You can do this. Take a Deep breath and think of the sense of achievement you will feel at the end. It’s knackering but it’s worth it 🤣👍🏼👍🏼

Oh no run 3 is a mind game. You can do it honestly. Probably my favourite run in the program. Once you have done this one you see that it is easier to keep running rather than stopping and starting.

Next time keep going . Enjoy the scenery and people watch. It will fall in to place I promise you. Well done on the journey so far xx

Well you’re super ready now. W5r3 is all bark and very little bite. Just take it really easy, put some good tunes or a podcast on and get out there. You will feel amazing when you finish. Good luck!

Yes, you can do it...we’re all right behind you willing you onwards. Once you get through those first 10 minutes - the toxic 10 - you will be flying. Relax, take it slow and steady, and smile, it really helps. Don’t stress about it, just put the shoes on and go 🙂

Good advice to smile, never thought to try that. I’ve been doing it with a friend and we try to talk and keep the conversation going to help our breathing. I’m going to start smiling I think too. 😀

2nd time this evening:

There is a common misunderstanding about the C25K program. Often, the walking sections are regarded as a rest, or some kind of break. But the walking is expected to be brisk, and the walking sections are intended only to allow your heart-rate to recover whilst you are building stamina and endurance.

So in W5r2 you will run/walk/run for 8/5/8 for a total of 21 minutes exercise. During the first run, your heart-rate will climb to it's peak for running. As you start the walking section, your heart-rate will fall back, but takes 3-4 minutes to drop, and then after 5 minutes you start running again. Quickly your heart-rate will climb, and then it will gradually increase during the 8 minute run. At the end of the 8 minute run your heart rate will probably be the highest that it has been during C25K so far.

Sure, W5r3 is 20 minutes of running, but from a heart rate (effort) perspective it is not so different from W5r2. And you are only active for 20 minutes, not 21. So no, it is not a typo, you have nothing to worry about: simply start off slower than you've run before. You can do this.

It’s going to go great LadyBeer! You know why it felt easier the second time around? Well, your body was ready for run 3, even though your mind said otherwise! Don’t listen to that rascal!! You can do it!! Go smash it! Enjoy! ❤️

It’s ok to bottle, it will consolidate what you have done already. But you can do it so next time try to estimate where each run will finish and picture yourself getting there.

So there's 3 of us doing w5r3 tomorrow. We are not alone! We have each other to get us through this!

Personally I am looking forward to proving to myself that I can do it

I'm on it too! Thought it seemed like a massive jump up but I've managed to do every other run so far so I have faith in the programme. That might change after tomorrow 😆

I am also on W5. I had assumed there were three identical runs. I’ve checked and I was wrong. I have W5R2 tomorrow so looks like Saturday or Sunday will be the big one. I’m a little behind you guys so will be good to hear how you get on because 20 sounds a huge leap from 3*5.
