Yes, do it!!

I am so jealous, I wish they had Parkruns near me! I think it feels so much more "casual" than a 5k that you have to sign up for, and pay for. If I understand it correctly?

But yes! You definitely can and should. Literally the worst thing that could happen is you stop and walk. Whoop-de-do! Countless people have stopped and walked, no one will notice or care or judge. Go and have fun!

I'm a Park Run fan - but do go careful in Week 7 - there is a lot of running still to do and your body is clocking up the miles now!

If you don't have any niggles or aches you should be fine. I just started with everyone else in walk as usual, following the app - then ran 25 - then did the 5 min walk at the end, and then jogged or walked the rest however I felt happy to. Others on the forum have done a 5 minute walk, then started the app so a 10 min walk to warm up. Personally I quite liked letting everyone shoot off and then overtaking them when they were all tired :D, but I had to be disciplined and ignore my urges to run too early. The other way of doing it is to do a 5 min walk before the start - which might be difficult with timing - then do the 25 minutes and walk the rest. Have fun!

Do it, do it, do it, do it! Get your barcode, go along, join in and most of all have fun! There is usually a ‘first timers briefing’ at about ten to nine, that will welcome you, tell you about the course and what to do with your barcode and finish token, if you’re not sure, or feeling nervous approach anyone in a high vis (the awesome volunteers) they will help you, the run director (another awesome volunteer) will have a blue and white tabard/vest, don’t be afraid to talk to them and tell them it’s your first time, or to talk to any of your fellow parkrunners, there’s always someone to help/talk to.

I guarantee you will not be last, there is a ‘tailwalker’ (volunteer) for that.

Relax and enjoy.......and remember, it’s not a race....

Oh and report back here and tell us what you thought...

Ps. Do you think it shows I like parkrun? 🤔😍

Definitely do it. My husbands often runs at park run, but following an eye op he volunteered to be tail walker as he has to limit his physical activity. I walked with him to ensure he kept to doctors orders. I've walked park run twice and everyone is to friendly and encouraging that I jogged part of the course, and have now started on c25k, so maybe able to run more of the course next time.

Yes! I walked the first one in week one! Then did the last session of the week, including warm up walk, in the ParkRun 👌🏽 best things EVER!

Go for it! I did my first one on week 7 run 1 and absolutely love it. I did the 5 min warm up walk ran for 25 mins then walked to the end x

Absolutely. You can walk the first 5 mins and do your run from there. I've found that having others there, especially if your a competitive person, helps. Do t push yourself too much. Don't worry and enjoy. I did my first last week and I'm off again on Saturday. It's great.

Take it slow, if it starts to hurt, walk.

Yes do it. But as others say do the 5 minute warm up to start , then run the 25 minutes and walk to the end. I started in week 8 and now I'm on my 20th Parkrun.
