Consolidation Woe’s - W11R1 (Post Grad W2)

Hi guys - W11 (Post Grad W2). Still maintaining the 5k distance, even managed to squeeze a little diversion to gain an extra 0.2k (Go me!)

Also managed to keep the pace down (8.10/km) but I’m still sooooo tired that even that pace is proving difficult to maintain with concrete in my legs. It’s been a bit cooler and last 2 nights I’ve managed around 5hrs sleep. I am eating loads of fruit and hydrating ok.

My inner drill sergeant has had and will have his work cut out for the next few weeks - my legs are starting a resistance movement!

God knows what I’m gonna to do in the winter - last night I didn’t get back from my run until 10.45 (= bowl of crunchy nut for dinner!)

Run again tomorrow (Wed) then two days rest before agreed Parkrun on Saturday morning.

(Good luck today Hidden x)

Post grad runs are tough as you’re going solo and making it up as you go along. It’s more about just adding running miles to your legs.

The heat has been a killer and your job has been manic adding to your tiredness...😔. You’ll get your running mojo back once you’ve recharged your batteries. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

Maybe you can do some shorter runs. That's a long time to run in this heat. Save the 5k for Saturday! X

I really felt it in my legs after my first 5k yesterday- I hobbled down the stairs this morning and slept through the alarm

HI,

I started C25K in December and graduated In March.... i spent all the cold, icy, winter runs longing for the warm weather when i thought how lovely it would be to go out in one layer (sigh)

The reality however was very different(!) By about May I quickly longed for those biting temperatures.... I struggle SO much in the heat, it is affecting everything- my breathing, my energy levels, my concentration. I am, however, persrvering, but I end up taking more walk breaks and so I'm learning to not beat myself up over those.

Anyway, the point I was making is that you WILL be fine in the winter - more layers, and some hi vis/reflective garments and you'll be fine. L x

Thx Lillybeth - atm I think I just need a few days good sleep behind me.... I was definitely doing better a few weeks ago before the sun and / or ill child insomnia started.... Although, I am kinda looking forward to winter to see what difference it makes to pace etc generally not running in 80-90% humidity & 28 degrees!

I’m impressed with everyone doing a 5k distance LoungeLizard! I’ve only just started tracking distance, so still aiming for that at some point before my charity run in early September. I think I could do it if I pushed a bit, but I’m just getting the go it alone runs in check first. You’re doing brilliantly and I’m sure the legs must be gaining strength from those runs too! Well done you! ❤️

You just need to know you’re a star! I can remind you, no problem! Yes, my next 30 mins tomorrow! But where shall it be? 🤔🤔 Got my thinking cap on now! 🧢 😉❤️

Great run LoungeLizaard ! Remember you're legs will be feeling the strain by now, that's a lot of collective miles!

Thanks also for your kind thoughts. All went well and I'm doing an overnight stay until the drain comes out. 😊😘
