W6r3 and hated it!

So, last week I conquered the dreaded w5r3 and found it easier than expected. I really felt that the 'toxic 10' thing was true, so went in to tonight's run (very slow jog) feeling, if not positive, then at least ok. I hated every single minute of it. All 1500 seconds. I did complete it but only out of sheer stubbornness.

It really worries me that when I finish the programme and I don't have a fixed time period to run and Jo Whiley telling me how fabulous I am every few minutes, I just won't actually want to run. In which case, why bother finishing the programme?

So despondent I warm-down walked to the shop for a bottle of wine..... 😔

No no no , this isnt how it goes! You follow and complete the programme. Then we have a paarrrrrty for graduation..... that wine will be useful😀

Then you set your own milestones. You can still use week 9 regularly if you want to. Or use Stepping Stones, Stamina and Speed podcasts alongside elements of the programme, until you decide your next steps. Its all such fun you will have a blast!

Keep going runner🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻

Hey Romeejo! You really have done so well and I can assure you W6 was definetly not my favourite either, but believe it or not right now, the buzz does come back. Some people do actually enjoy it. I wasn’t one of them. I think I asked if there was such a thing as a toxic 20 on one of those runs! 😊

I believe it’s the body and mind’s adjustment to another change that got to me, but it passed. You did it and can put it behind you! Room 101! You’re out of there! Good for you! You’ve come a long long way from those 60 second runs and you can do it! You are already fabulous! ❤️

I felt the same (currently on W7 R2) so i have set myself some challenges. I've signed up to Race at at Your Pace for August with the 50 mile challenge, and have planned to do our local park run in sept. I figure that shoukd keep me going a few months, and if i still need motivation after that i can do Race at Your Pace again in oct!

Despondent, why?

We all get good and bad runs. The good runs are lovely and the world smiles on you. But the bad runs, the ones where your brain is screaming at you to give up; where it is easier to walk away - you DIDN'T QUIT. You dug in and got it done. That bottle of wine should be a celebration, because you have proved just how mentally tough you are! Well done.

When you finish the programme and you no longer run down the clock, you will find you run what you want. Having a good day and fancy pushing another mile or so, great; having a mare and feel like stopping after 2miles. Enjoy the programme, as it is great, but when its over embrace the freedom of you new running life.
