Hi everyone and welcome to a new running week.

We are all so busy.....life can be hectic ........and even more so for us runners!

Fear not, here is a place to take five, and enjoy a chat about our running adventures, trials, tribulations, successes, achievements etc.

Sometimes we don't feel like putting a whole post up but just want to share something small, so this is a great place for doing that during the week.

If you're a lurker it is a great place to say a little hi, without the pressure of a full post.

Wishing you all a happy , healthy and well hydrated week,

Oldfloss, Ju-ju, Realfoodieclub, Bluebirdrunner and me..Millsie-J. Enjoy X

Hi there. Still running 3x a week and ran 5k on the last two. Was tough getting there but at the end my legs felt like they could keep going. Don't feel ready to bridge yet or even if I want to do longer distances. Will see how it plays out over the next few weeks but I am definitely keeping up the running whatever the distance. Have still to do my local parkrun so that's on the list and am toying with joining a running club once I am comfortable with 5k runs.

Happy running everyone wherever you're at πŸ™‚

Hi, back from holiday where I managed 3 postgrad runs + an extra week 4 run at the start of the week as I was accompanying my sister :D She's now on week 5 and I'm really proud of her.

1st postgrad run on my usual route on Saturday and managed 4.2km this time - inching (S-L-O-W-L-Y) toward 5K. It's a bit cooler here today so running tonight instead of 1st thing in the morning, which is the first time in a while.

I'm thinking of attempting a parkrun on Saturday - will see how runs go tonight and Wednesday. Can always walk part of it...

Need to find a way of getting a regular routine now that I'm not on the programme any more.

happy running everyone!

I’ve done my first postgrad run this morning and thought it was rubbish but turned out to be not a bad time. I’m going to do my first park run on Saturday too (Lincoln) before I go on holiday next week. Go for it and good luck!

thanks Sandie, I managed to cover a little bit further on my run last night so I think I can do it. Just nervous at the prospect of running with a load of other (proper) runners *rolling eyes at myself emoji*

Well done! I understand that the Park Runners are a very friendly lot and that you can walk it if you want. I’ll report back πŸ˜ƒ

Hi, Just completed my first run of couch to 5k 😁 Even as a youngster I was not a runner but have decided to give a go. Trying to get a head start before my teen joins me next week to help motivate me during school hols. We are calling it our six week challenge. Hi everyone and hope you have a good week x

Another two weeks on the IC for me. Just had another 30 mins of sport massage, which really helps, but she doesn't think I should attempt running or salsa for at least two weeks. That will be six weeks in total since I graduated, but the park isn't going anywhere and I don't want to make it worse, so i'll do what i'm told and rest. She did day i could use the bike and cross trainer in the gym & I could also go swimming.

Wishing you all a good week☺

Well that should be enough to be getting on with! Must be so frustrating but better you do as you're told and heal properly x

W9R2 done this morning. Much better run, maybe because it's cooler, maybe because I returned to my weaving in and out of campus rather than country roads or canal towpath, maybe because my head is clear after the busiest week ever, maybe fueled by my eldest birthday cake.

Same again on Thursday. Hoping to do a park run or 5k with running friends over the summer and run alongside my kids on their bikes over the summer.

I completed and graduated (put that screen shot on Instagram, I was so proud) c25k last week and have done two runs this week - same route, same time, same speed. I need to plan progression now as I am still listening to w9 audio.

Really need to change my music too, its doing my head in now!

I am so glad I began c25k in April (I had a back problem so missed 3 weeks, then went back to w4 when I returned), it has been an incredible summer for running. I go out about 6.15am, part road then along the canal. I have seen rabbits, herons, ducklings and even a kingfisher one morning, along with 5 drunk lads heading for a river swim and one guy asleep on the tow path!!! I love the head space that time gives me and the sense of achievement. I began c25k as I am absolutely not a runner, it turns out I am and I can!

Well go me.

Dead chuffed!

I did w6r1 tues and then w6r2 wed as those were the only days myself and my friend could do this week. Going to do the w6r3 on Saturday morning to try and beat the heat. Can’t say I’m looking forward to it at all and was utterly disappointed to see w7 is the same run repeated BUT I’m going to do it and then hopefully feel more upbeat about running this time next week!

Great that you can get the three runs in! Graduation is not far off now 😎

Kept telling myself I'd already done double the time for a running interval, and before I knew it W6R2 was in the bag. The next session is somewhat scary though!

Millsie-J profile image

Well done Denova! The next session is different, but you have already done 20 mins solid running! You will do it, just take a slow pace, enjoy πŸ’ͺ🏻

Hi, I am at W7, but only just joined here. I am getting ahead of myself to see what is available once I become a C25K graduate, as I have a feeling that being ordered to run 3 times a week with a set pattern is what has kept me going.

I cannot get my head around the fact that in less than seven weeks I have gone from thinking a 1 minute run was never going to end to running for 25 minutes, something that I couldn’t even do at school!

You are doing great!

On Tuesday I completed w9r3. I should have felt elated but actually felt really down. The run was the hardest I have ever completed mainly because I ran at 16.45 on what I thought was a cooler day but sadly not. I really struggled with my breathing and being asthmatic is not a good place to be. I felt sad as I know a few people who have completed c25k and didn’t carry on with running and I felt so negative could now understand why. Also, my second run of week 9 I did a parkrun which just showed how slow I run!

Anyway, picked myself up today and went to the gym. Warmed up on a bike and did 20 minutes interval training on a running board. Feeling a little more positive so just hope this stays with me. All us over 60’s need to keep running just need cooler weather.

Congratulations on your graduation, terrific achievement. Those warm runs can be really tough, but you did it, youvare a runner! Go get that next run πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ˜ŽπŸ’ͺ🏻

How do I have graduated after my name on the c25k site?

Hello -

What do people do to prevent leg chafing? Vaseline not working for me. Wore shorts yesterday & now got 2 very unattractive patches of. Chub rub on my legs - ouch!!!

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to Thriftyvickie

You could try some lycra undershorts maybe? Also there are products such as Bodyglide, which might work better for you than Vaseline. As a thought, are you wearing shorts made specifically for running in?

Thriftyvickie profile image
ThriftyvickieGraduate in reply to Millsie-J

No - I’ve tried running shorts but felt they were too long. Maybe I should look in to getting some more.

These are just regular cotton shorts

Will look in to body glide - leg is so sore today - not helped that I forgot about it & sprayed my leg with magnesium oil spray

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to Thriftyvickie

Running gear have seams which aim not to chaf from the repeated running motion. Might be worth looking at πŸ‘πŸΌ
