Hi I am just beginning the programme and wondering if I am the oldest person here! I am wondering if I am going to find it really difficult but am hoping I haven’t left it too late.

No, definitely not too late, you are a young guy at 65, I am 72 and just completed C25K recently, I graduated with a 30 minute run just last Monday, just keep to the program, no shortcuts and you should be OK, there are no strict rules apart from keeping to the program, you can repeat any week you like, the mantra motto of C25K is "slow and steady" welcome to the club, you will find great advice, especially from the administrators and other runners, graduates as well. Once piece of advice to you in this hot weather, try your runs first thing in the morning when its cooler.

Another 72 year old here! First time ever running. Am going to do Week 6 run 2 tomorrow morning! Believe in the programme, and listen to the fabulous advice on this forum. I couldn’t do without the support on here. It might be difficult, but not TOO difficult, and you’ll feel great when you see what you can do.

You certainly haven’t left it too late but if you have any health issues do check with you GP first. I am a bit younger at 60 and graduated within 9 weeks, but some people take a bit longer if they need it. It was hard for me to run 60 seconds when I started but today I ran 4.5 km . Just trust the programme and you will be amazed by your progress. I am hoping that this change in lifestyle will extend my life.

Hahahahha! Sorry... pardon my mirth! Nope...not by a loooooong way.

So many of us seasoned runners here:)

I am 68 :) Started this at 65... half way through my half marathon training...but on the IC currently ..( NOT running related).

This is an amazing place,,,check out the link from IannodaTruffe ...keep it slow, and keep it steady and enjoy!!!

I’m 64 and graduating this week, running for 30 minutes with ease now, never thought it would be possible.

I graduated on my 65th Birthday having been exercise averse all my life. It was a great feeling and continues to be so. Some mornings it’s harder to get going than others and this heat is a bit much!

You are right on time.

The time to do this is when you are motivated to do it. I waited 68 years, so you are way ahead already.

Nope you are not alone. I started mid March, graduated from Couch to 5k on May 22th,ran my first 5k 3days later, first 10k June 16th and was 65 on June 24th.

Just in case the first 10k was a fluke I am now following jujus plan on Bridge to 10k.

You can do it and there is always loads of support on here. Best advice ever? Take it slow... and then slow down some more.

And yes, in THIS weather, run early in the morning.

Not too old, I just completed 10 days ago and I'm 70 and proud!! It is hard going sometimes, I have to be honest, but it's worth it. Be warned, it's addictive too 😎. Enjoy, keep really well hydrated everyday, not just run days, follow the programme and you will succeed😎

I graduated at 67 and my wife at 64 at the end of May this year. Best thing we ever did! We still run three mornings a week, one of which is a Parkrun. (5K) My best Parkrun time is 34:53 last Saturday. It was great getting out with our family and running.

Just take it slow and follow the program, you will be just fine. When I look back to the first week, huffing and puffing after 60 seconds, and here I am running for 30 minutes. Recovery time is great at about three minutes before I can walk back to the car. Blood pressure has come down and you know what? I feel great!

Good luck with the program, if you get a bit down, pop back on here and read some of the inspiring posts. Get on to Facebook and find "Finish for Matt" and read the wonderful stories on there. But remember this one thing. As soon as you have completed that first running set Week one, Day one, you are a runner. The friendliness is amazing and the changes are awesome. With you all the way, so keep on keeping on. :-)
