Hello all!

Summer running and we could do with a bit of breeze! Remember as ever, the heat of summer, plan carefully and hydrate well at all times.

So, welcome all to the fourth and last week in June of β€œWhat is your week?”

Whats’s the idea of, "What is your Week?”.

Well every week I am going to put up a post, so you can add in a little post underneath, to say what week you are planning to do this week.

Sample post (feel free to put as much or as little as you like):

β€œHi, I'm Millsie-J and this week, I am doing the milestone Week 6 runs. Feeling a little nervous, any tips folks? β€œ

We are growing so much at the moment and we wanted to have a little fun post ,so we can see who is on what week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just graduated, this will also be a great place to keep you motivated, there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum as well, for Graduates.

I will add all the names from this week under this post. Then every week for the month of June the names will roll over into another post. Anyone can join in at any time.

Let's get a good list going so we can support each other throughout the month, and get another month of running miles in our legs!

(Come on you lurkers, we would love you to come join us too)!

Happy running everyoneπŸƒπŸ½β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸŒž

Oh just seen this. This might be useful for me. Haha. I’ve just posted needing a reboost.

I’m on about week 6 having done it before and redoing it in attempt to get to 10K after a 6 week injury break.

This week I plan on staying at week 6 I think.

I really don’t like summer running. I hate being too hot.

I’m just finding it so so hard. Much harder than last time.

Hello and welcome Jandotty.

Summer running can certainly be tough.

You have done great to get back after your injury, remember slow and steady will do it for youπŸ‘πŸΌ

I have put up a full response to your earlier post.

On week 6 and next up is run 3. Having had some muscle tightness& slight cramp and stitch in Week 5, the first 2 runs in week 6 have been really good. The mantra about slow and steady, find your pace and breathe deeply, is such good advice. Looking forward to progress this week!

Those aches etc could be to do with hydration Joostex, but sounds like you have it sorted now. Have a great week!

No running for me today as I’ve got a classic Rossinyol headcold/sinusitis/chest infection combo, I have as much energy as a slug on an overcast day and I’m snuffling and wheezing about the house like an overgrown hedgehog. Pass the Olbas...

So, time to cheer on everyone else from the sidelines! Especially any newbies. Go, go, go ( but obviously in the cool of the early morning/evening... don’t get heatstroke peeps) πŸ˜ŠπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸ‘πŸΌπŸŒž

Hi I’m Jay. Busy week at work with two very late meetings coming up. This is going to be a leisurely running week to re-time my long run to the weekend.

Run today, Wednesday and Saturday, so two rest days between each run, with the first two being 30 mins or 4k (depending how they go) and the third run being either a 5k road run or a Parkrun.

This will complete my June quest to run 30 mins (or more) three times a week.

Enjoy your week.

Sounds a good week and a great month Jay.

This morning was W9 R2. So hopefully on Tuesday I will graduate. I can manage 4K in 30 mins, so on Thurs or Friday I’ll move to 30min consolidation runs during the week and I’d like to join in with a local Saturday Parkrun to increase to 5k in a couple of weeks time.

Once I’ve graduated the next personal demons to tackle will be (1) running with other people and (2) my weight and healthy eating. My BMI is slightly over healthy and I want to take some of the weight off my poor limbs!

Good luck everyone xx

Echoing the β€œgood plan” comment - exactly what I’ve done since graduating and I’ve signed up to the healthy eating part of this site/started food tracking with My Fitness Pal. Good luck with it all.

Thank you! I’ve just graduated and rejoined MFP. So my plan is off to a good start πŸ˜‚Good luck to you too.

I’ll have a look at the healthy eating part too. The more help the better sometimes isn’t it 😁

Absolutely. I’ve always struggled with my weight (apart from a golden era, early 20s). Must lose this belly!

I just did w8r2 soooooo slow I'm pretty sure I was faster on the cool-down walk afterwards :D

My goal all along has been to finish the c25k before 5th July as that's when we go on holiday for a week and I want to run to Southward pier at least once while we are there (we shall see if that happens!)

This week the plan is w8r3 on Tuesday, w9r1 on Thursday and w9r2 on Saturday (fingers crossed)

After advice on here I had a rethink about my route so there are no downhill parts at all including the cool down so hopefully my knee can hold up.

good luck everyone!

I'm due to start week 8. Got a busy week but hoping for Wednesday Friday Sunday runs! This heatwave is not good for these longer runs but I'm going to do it....! Happy running everyone πŸƒπŸ‘

I’m starting W6R1 tonight, very pleased with myself that I have got this far as I have never done any running before. I get stitch quite a bit when I’m running so trying to have a big drink of water before I set out and keep hydrated through the run but this is the thing I find the hardest as it can slow me down!

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to JaniceS123

Well done on starting the programme. Remember you need to hydrate well the day before a run rather than directly before.

Hello!

I'm kicking off week 4 tomorrow...not looking forward to running in the heat. Planning on keeping the pace slow and staying hydrated.

How do you guys deal with running in the heat?

Millsie-J profile image
Millsie-JGraduate in reply to MissKitty24

Slow and steady, stay well hydrated at all times, shady routes, early morning or late evening runs. Goodluck with week four!

Left it until tomorrow morning, and don't I know it! Mood really low, feeling bloody awful, I need my happy endorphins kick, having a go in the morning after the school run and even if I don't manage to do the entire thing I'll use it as a platform to excel in my next run! Still shitting it good and proper though...

Hi again!

Managed W9R1 early this morning. Very happy to hit 4.96km in the 30mins of running time (think I’m rounding that up to call it 5k!) Hoping to do R2 on Wednesday, then aiming to graduate Friday or Saturday... πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβ€οΈπŸ˜

Hi, I am still consolidating my 30 minute runs, although I am now doing 4.5k in 32 mins. Hard going in this weather and my daughter has persuaded me to do my first Parkrun on Saturday. I don’t feel ready but can’t refuse the idea of her support while I do it. She is so encouraging that I might even be able to sleep the night before. My aim is still to run 5k before I am 60 next month so I won’t beat myself up if I have to walk the last uphill section to finish.
