Week 6 : Hi I am struggling with c25k, my mind... - Couch to 5K
Week 6
I’m the opposite to you as I can’t run on a treadmill but love being out in the park especially early on the morning. I listen to podcasts when I’m running - takes my mind off the pain! I would try to persevere & mix it up a bit to help with boredom. I vary my routes & podcasts for that reason. 🙂
I was like you, really struggled outdoors, regulating pace, I now use an app like map my run that gives you an approximate current speed so use that to adjust up or down to a pace I know I have run at on the treadmill, never have got the hang of breathing properly, just don’t forget to do it!
Regulating your breath - sounds like you run too fast outside.
Try a run where you deliberately run as slowly as you possibly can whilst still being in a running action - think running on the moon. That should keep your breath under control. Next time go a little faster. And so on. See if that helps.
Hi Scobins, I have only done W1R1 at the gym (not by choice) I then had to run outdoors for a bit (no car, gym too far) and though I’m back behind some new wheels, I’ve had a great parting gift by having to choose between running outdoors (with absolute deeply entrenched nightmare thoughts) or giving up. I’ve never run on the treadmill since.
I know that I have to be a bit more mindful of my footing outdoors. Sloooow seems to be working very well for me! W6! Well done you! ❤️
