Week 3 Run 2 done. Not losing any weight yet :(

Hi all.

I have just completed week 3 run 2, loving the programme, finding it much more manageable than I thought I would! But I haven't started to lose any weight yet. I feel more toned, less 'flabby' I guess! I reckon I'm around 3 stone overweight, so thought I'd see some changes by now! Maybe I'm hoping for too much too soon.

It will come but not quickly and not without also working on the food and drink going in. Keep running - the longer runs have more impact, so I’m told.

Wicked thank you!

I agree with this one - you’ll notice it when the runs start to get longer.

Combine your running with healthy eating ( and don’t use your running as an excuse for extra “ treats”) & that combined with running will do the trick given more time. 😀

I’m just about to start week 9 and started noticing the lbs come off around week 7. As long as you stick to the program and a low carb diet you will see it come off eventually .

Exercise is only a small part of weight loss , the majority is all down to diet and portion control.

Give weight watchers a go, they really helped and I’ve been cooking with that hairy bikers diet book. Some cracking recipes in there. Just try and stick to the portion sizes they recommend 👍.

Good luck you’ll get there🤘

It's early days so don't get disheartened. Forestgrump is right, its all about portion size and kicking out the sugar and less carbs. Never give up, you will see a difference later on. Well done for starting!

It's not always about losing weight. More about losing bulk. Muscle is denser than fat, so as you replace fat with muscle, you can actually go up in weight and still need that extra hole in the belt! Maybe you are also expecting results too soon. Thing is, you need a calorie deficit to lose weight. Burn 1500 and take in 1200. If you are still eating the same, although you may be exercising more, maybe you are having that extra bite just because you have done it? I did to begin with....

I'm recording everying I eat and watching calories and macros. I started two weeks before C25K and over those two weeks lost 5 lbs. In the first 3 weeks of C25K, I have gained back about 2 lbs despite keeping to the same eating scheme. It's very disheartening.

I’m doing C25K and WW. On week 6 R2- and have lost 9.5lbs in last 3 wks!

As long as you eat healthy it will start coming off. I would recommend measuring the waist etc as you see the centimetres come off faster than the lbs

Sadly, none of us are going to lose weight with this programme, especially in the early stages when you are only actually running a few short minutes. I finished programme back in April and have continued to run 2/3 times a week since for 30 minutes. Not a pound of my excess of about 4 stone gone - however I did feel much fitter and have better self-esteem. And it has given me the motivation to actually really fight the excess weight by the old-fashioned ( and only real way to lose weight) - counting my calories. I'm using the NHS 12 week programme to help me, restricting my calories to 1400, - and in first 2 and half weeks I have lost 5 pounds. I keep telling me that if I have been able to train myself to run for 30minutes, surely I can do this! Best of luck.

I’m about to graduate & I haven’t lost any weight at all! 😢. I think it is different for everyone.

Sorry to say I’m on W6R1 and not lost any weight yet.... I’m vegetarian and not really in to chocolate/biscuits etc and dieting hasn’t really done a lot for my weight which is why I decided to try C25K.

But there are other benefits, I have a lot more energy during the day, before I was always feeling drained or too tired to do much exercise and I feel better knowing I am healthier in my body, and I’m hoping when I start doing regular longer runs it will start to come off then! Good luck with the programme and keep going 😁 xx

I’ve just graduated (sorry to slip that in, still excited haha) and havent lost weight. But my body shape has definitely changed. I feel more toned and my clothes fit better. If you combine this with low cal eating you will absolutely see and feel a difference. Good luck and well done on getting this far. Stay with us and enjoy the journey 👏👍

Thank you all for your comments! I feel loads better, as it is clearly beneficial in lots of ways other than just weight loss! I do feel better, more energetic, I look forward to the runs, and I feel my body shape is changing already! Was probably having a bit of a down moment when I posted! This group is Ace! Thanks again for the positivity guys!! Xx
