Run in memory of Dad

First fathers' day without my Dad. He died in January from pneumonia having suffered a severe spinal injury in November and fighting for 3 months as a quadriplegic.

I wanted to run in memory of him tonight. He was always a fighter, not giving up even when life was hard.

That is how I need to run. I wanted to give up so many times today but smashed my best distance in the 30 minutes and finished with a little tear in my eye thinking about all the time I had spent with my Dad. I hope he would be proud of me.

Ah, the first Fathers Day without your dad is especially hard but you’ve honoured his memory today. As long as you keep talking about him he’ll be part of your life. Sad for you 😢

Congratulations! What a lovely tribute to your Dad. He’d definitely have been proud of you. You’ve i inspired me to dedicate my C25K journey to my Dad too. He died 4.5 years ago, but I think of him daily. He was my buddy and I still miss him dearly. Xx

Well done a really great result - and I agree its not an easy time. My father also died of repeated bouts of pneumonia after 90 days in hospital in mid January this year, a very difficult time - sadly we were never able to get to get him home. I often think of him. WK9R1 and another 5k and a bit this morning - which all being well will be habit going forward. And I've no doubt your father would have been very proud of you as I'm sure mine would have been for me.

Well done for smashing your distance. Your Dad must have been an amazing Dad, just as it sounds like you are. He would be very proud of you. I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my Dad to pneumonia too 7 years ago and Fathers Day is always a “toughie” even now.

My dad has been gone four years now..will always miss him..My dad would think it hilarious that I am doing this..he was fit all of his life as he did a manual factory job. If he wasn't working he was digging the garden growing veggies..and he walked to work and back. He was never overweight and fit as a fiddle. Your dad sounds like he'd be so proud of you for completing your run..🎖️
